More Time To Get Fit - 2025

i have put myself on time out to deal with the tendinitis. no walks for the last few days and what do you know, it feels better.

i don’t. but it does. :x

TWT, muscles will come back much faster than tendons and ligaments.

Collagen will help with connective tissue (tendons and ligaments), but you also have to be patient. It sounds like you reached a state of over-training on your connective tissues. Give them a few days to recover, then you can start again, but remember that you need to give them rest days. Best pattern is hard/medium/recoveryhard/medium/recovery/rest

thank you. it’s a lot of overcompensation for weakness per my PT and yea, probably overdoing it when the tendons are already pissed off.

gonna go stretch meow.

Did an easy 23 miles up in Truckee today with my buddy that did the Foresthill ride with me. Damn he’s such a strong rider. Had a lot of fun. The ride was 50% paved and 50% gravel. I’ll do another ride on Monday and then take it easy until Saturday.

I think I got him interested in going down to ride the Bovine classic in October.

I’m really enjoying this.

my VO2 max seems to be on the upswing!

it’s still shit but i’ll take a win where i can get it.

Started a BPC-157/ TB500 and Glutathione regiment two weeks ago along with Graston and deep tissue release work with a long time friend who works in the longevity/ mobility space. Unreal results, IME. Wish I'd known about this earlier. Mobility is astonishingly better; impingement reduced significantly, and overall limberness, improved. And that's only two weeks...I'm sold so far. Time will tell on the lasting effect, but I'm also adding one dedicated and another half mobility workout into the mix, weekly.

Rode this weekend on the lake and it's true what was advertised; your body will move differently (freely). Everything works less twisted/ locked, especially moves centered around the pelvis (which riding stand-ups skis require). I'm blown away...I feel like I rode when I was in my teens...

Flexibility is the athletic trait that you can get results quicker than the others.

So many athletes don't do enough with flexibility when it can help avoid injury, increase movement and generally improve athletic performance.

It's definitely something you should work on throughout your life as we typically get tighter as we get older.

Robert; The peptides helped with a few chronic muscle issues (one brachialis; one shoulder) I've had for awhile. Think the brachial is from a tear years ago on that same ski. The shoulder I'd guess is from the 2023 shattered collar bone/ crash. These were noticeable in a few days. I attribute the peptides and Graston cause that's all we did to those areas...and not much Graston to the shoulder. As always, placebo can always be a factor, but the drop in reduction in tension in the brachialis in a short period makes me think the peps are effective, given this has been a problem for about 5-6 years. Also, strength overall is up, but that could just be more sleep.

The targeted pressure release (massage) is largely responsible for the pelvis moving freely. That was pretty obvious when I got off the table and continued to relax over the next few days and second session a week later. That being said: I can feel some tightening coming back.

Yoga was incredibly effective at reducing the stress I cary in my hips. It took a few months of twice a week of consistency to make a noticeable difference. I haven’t been going in well over a year and the regression is noticeable, even with regular stretching at home. Regaining that hip mobility is the number one thing that makes me want to start going again.

I’m still looking for that thing that will solidify some hip mobility and in turn keep my back content. Lifting has def made the good feelings last longer. But it still regresses in like a week if I sit at my desk. I wonder if I’ll be stretching, lifting, and cycling for the rest of my life to stay comfortable. Could be worse lol

Check out Psoas specific stretches, Rob. The sitting all day is hell on ours...

Just passing through and will add the aspect of the iliacus as a likely conjoined tendon with the psoas m. Damn gravity is both enemy and blessing depending on which end is up. I might be able to quit yoga if gravity ever quits me. You all keep me motivated with your individual progressions. Thanx

Quick report for my ride/first race this morning. I entered the short Squatch, it was 40 miles with one climb that was a bear, 1.6(ish) miles at around 8-10%. Some of the people got part way up it and just turned around and went back. I don’t know where I placed but I passed a butt load of people and only got passed by 6. One was in the longer 60 mile half Squatch…her and I went back and forth for a while and at about 18 miles she disappeared. One of the others that passed me looked like he was also in one of the longer rides (I didn’t see him at our start and he was super fast). The other four I had passed at mile 30 but they repassed me at mile 35. I finished in 3:21 and that included a stop at an aid station to eat a little food. My overall ride time was 3:16. I’m super happy with today and had a blast.

Great job, Ridley!

That long climb sounds like a bear! Definitely a long steep grind!

Robert would probably revel in it, but I'm too old to want to tackle something like that! :laughing

Climber, how old are you? I’m 50 for your reference.
