MOTOGP 2012 Round 1 : Doha, Qatar. 4/5-4/8 2012

Spoken like a true Rossi fan.:laughing

Personally I think false hope would be better, then when he crushes him the next race, the mental damage will be more. Chattering would make more sense than tires as an excuse.

We will see. Jorge just put a stamp on it, I caught you, passed you, and owned you at your track. Stole a win from Casey. And dnai in there is a good sign for a title race. Gotta hand it to stoner tho, in true stoner fashion, having issues and still a podium way ahead of everyone. Once again, that's how you win titles. On your bad day, still getting some hardware.

The rider saying it? :teeth

It seems so. Only, some riders back up their "excuses" with results after they fix the problem, others fall a furth 16 seconds back, all the while making more and more excuses, I mean reasons, for their poor performance.:laughing

I feel really bad for Rossi, having Nicky beat him just isn't right. I really hope Prez gives him a bike he can ride this season.

I'm always curious, what's the difference between an excuse and a reason?

They are the same thing but depending on the amount of times a reason is used is can quickly turn into an excuse.

The arm pump makes sense when you really consider

A) stoner hasn't done as many laps as the others

B) It's the 1st race of the year

I just don't see it now. There's a fundamental disconnect between what vale wants/needs and what prez wants/makes. It's like they fucking cancel each other out.

I don't really see it that way, and I don't think Jorge or Casey do either. At first Jorge said he won because he kept pushing and never gave up. True. But then he conceded that the only reason he was able to catch Casey was due to the Australian's drop in lap times. During the same press conference, Casey flat out said that he and his team are the fastest out there and the only thing that prevented his victory was the arm pump. And then he apologized to his team for not bringing home the W.

Spies is on my shit list right now. Guy needs to step it up or make way for someone who will.

His comment on twitter was interesting...

that's what happens when u ride a bike that's been crashed twice #nobackupchassi

Why do they not have a backup chassi?

Also anyone else notice when Ben crashed his hand got caught in the brake level guard? All the more reason NOT to have one.

His left hand glove got a little caught up on the right side cables way inside the throttle, no where near the front brake guard. I think the front brake guard is an excellent addition seeing the accidents that have been caused by other bikes hitting the front brake in the past.

Motogp isn't about swapping paint right now, it's about tension. Seeing which one of the unbelievably skilled guys at the front is going to make one mistake or encounter a single problem that would be nothing in WSBK, BSB, AMA or any other racing series, but will turn into a disaster because of the level of the competition. It's watching gods duel on a knifes edge.

Super exciting for me. Blood was pumping the whole race.

My statement had nothing to do with swapping paint?... Do I look like a NASCAR fan to you? :wtf

I suppose I didn't see the tension you're speaking off. Perhaps the years of watching moto racing has killed it in me? Who knows.

Again - the majority of this race was a parade. Aside from the start and the finish, everything in the middle was crap.. And even then - aside from the two position swaps at the end, not much else happened - the leaders took off and got far away from everybody else, and swapped positions twice. That's it.

At first it looks like the gauntlet of his left hand snagged the brake guard. But yeah, more than likely he just got caught up in the cables or reservoir.

Once I awhile it would be nice not to hear an instant excuse from stoner. And the guy wonders why with all his talent people don't warm up to him.

I'm always curious, what's the difference between an excuse and a reason?

Really. It seems whenever Stoner is asked what happened and he answers, he's making excuses. When anyone else does it they are "revealing first-hand information".

Btw CRT didn't do so bad at all, especially for this track. Colin was only a few seconds behind Ben

Certainly not the disaster that has been predicted by some.

Those are also good explanations for tire wear being a factor: new tire construction and not have any experience on tires after 15+ laps.

Cryptic posts coming from Rossi...

Is he about to leave Ducati?

An Italian member over at MM forums says that to the Italian media Rossi sounds as though he's completely given up. We are trying to track down a source right now.
