I liked my Harley as much as I liked my Bonnevilles..... as I did my Sprint RS, my Yamaha 750 triple full dresser, and my Honda CL360. I loved my BMW, the Aprilia RSV, Guzzi V-50, and Suzuki SV650. Pretty crazy about my boring Bandit 1250, the little less "boring" first generation FZ1, and my super cool Vespa GT200. The Honda CB100, CL175, 550F, and 750F.

I likes bikes.

And I think no less of folks who enjoy maybe Japanese bikes only, Italian, German, or American. I had my Bonnies before they were made in Thailand, know that parts is parts, and was surprised to find out that the Korean made wannabe SV650 puts ten more hp to the rear wheel than Suzuki's 'real' SV650.

What bugs me most are elitists who enjoy hearing themselves talk smack about bikes they have chosen to dislike or be hate'n on.....

Don't be haters. Either you're a motorcycle enthusiast, Poseur, wannabe, poser, or hater...... and arrogance often overshadows one's own awareness of his/her ignorance.

Yeah, my Harley changed my life about as much as my Vespa changed my life, and I'm a better man for it.
:teeth :ride

:laughing :thumbup

I love my kawi and I love my HD... I dont have tats or do poker runs, I just love cruising with my hands out and my feet on forward controls as a WWII (but fuel injected) engine churns/rumbles/grunts under me...

so... I don't care about the ads or image, I just like Harleys.

And you don't think that the same level of marketing isn't going on with sportbikes?

The only difference is that you like the flavor of the sportbike koolaid better. ;)

it's like flying a biplane : D

harley threads are like barf's little menstruations.
......
I checked my Tampax supply, just incase I go out or sumptin.

Except for folks that turn a HD into a useless piece of chopped garbage, and STILL try to ride it, I really see all two-wheelers as my sisters.

Here is the only Harley that I REALLY wanted to own, and still would own:

More like operating a John Deere.....

I wasn't talking about them being trailered because they're broken, but because the owners trailer them to the best posing spots rather than riding them. And before anyone gets going, yes I know HD riders who actually ride, but the stereotype exists for a reason.

Actually, not sportbike ads. Those are mostly just action shots of roadracing. ICON ads, are a different story tho.

i hate people who talk shit about bikes when they no nothing about it. just because sportbikes are lame and cruisers are gay, AND buells are the best bikes in the whole world, doesnt mean people need to talk shit about buells just because their jealous.

we're all riders! where's the love, people?!!

+1

I didn't start this thread to knock Harleys. It just degraded into that. I just wanted to see how people felt about the ads. I think they are a bit silly. I actually like Harleys for what they are, I would just find it refreshing if HD actually sold them for what they are; MOTORCYCLES.:thumbup

Of course they are raking in alot of suckers on the image, so whatever works to sell 'em I guess.

I have a big dealer not too far away, I go in and look from time to time. I'm usually looking at a Sportster. Then I think how much work it's going to be to put on good shocks, change the fork springs, get the brake feel I like, tune the engine, and change the handlebars. It will still be 600 pounds when I'm done. Then I just buy a Japanese bike that is closer to being ready to ride.
I rent a Harley every once in a while, they have a nice rental program. Riding that heavy metal for a whole day is enough to satisfy me for a long while.

The bikes are ok depending on what you want. If going quickly isnt one of your requirements HD may be for you. I've had four now and they are painfully slow if you have spent any time on sportbikes. The thing that really turned me off was the people and im sure there are a lot of great HD riders out there but the superfical cliques that seem to form at least in the HOG groups really turned me off. And its the same old bullshit everytime made in America yada yada all the good parts are made in japan! they dont like hearing that! loud pipes save lives yeah right! it all just seemed so cliche like they were borg or something its like a collective intelligence and not much of one probably not quite room temperture. I neve heard an original thought come out of any of them.

exactly... not the best way to get around but it's fun in its own way :)

Yeah..both fun in their own, low-perf way that generates businesses catering to the need to spend tons of cash on well built examples.

So all the haters must be on to something, they're so smart...I bet they're all glad they don't make millions catering to the significant amount of love people express towards machines of that ilk. That's a lot of paperwork come April!!

:rofl

Although, seriously, $450,000 for the lovingly handbuilt biplane in my buddy's flying mag does seem a touch steep compared to a hog.

Good thing a serious track bike won't set you back more than...oh really? $3000 for forks, and they're not even the top of the line model? Wow...

Not only do I flip straight back and forth from the Harley to the Sportbike section of my old Motorcycle Trader mags, but I also can't decide between a Springer Softtail, Sportster, GSXR1K, Ninja 250, Motard or Streetfightered hayabusa.....hmmm, perhaps a scooter?

Harley Davidson Motorcycles:

Generally not my cup of tea. I'm glad that there are options out there. Many people love the bikes and I say more power to them. I will say my disdain for their management has increased dramatically with the information leaking out regarding the Buell decision and the MV Agusta decision.

Harley Davidson Marketing and the lemmings who believe in the "marketing speak", the supposed lifestyle statement and the hype:

I hate them with the burning passion of a thousand suns.
