rode the Roadliner recently...the thing is a beast....lotta torque, good hp, and handle well for a 750lb long bike..:wow

so you're the one that put the miles on it...how ya like the Cobra exhaust..?

too loud..?

It's not bad at all. If I were to get a cruiser for around town, that would be it.

I would just find it refreshing if HD actually sold them for what they are; MOTORCYCLES.:thumbup

Of course they are raking in alot of suckers on the image, so whatever works to sell 'em I guess.

What you have to realize, is the fact that Harley isn't in the motorcycle business. They are in the lifestyle business. It's estimated that Harley makes 4 times more money off Harley branded merchandise, than they do from motorcycle sales. So why would they talk about motorcycles? It's all about the brand baby! :laughing

who estimated that ?

i like metric cruisers so both harley and sprotbile crowd can hate on me...:laughing
Finally something I can totally relate to on barf!!! I feel like a tourist (or worse) around here.

I'm badly turned off by the Harley image. Or I should say, the Harley biker image. But I parked next to one a while back and my V Star is a pretty blatant ripoff of Harley design. And I like the V Star.

If someone gave me a newish Heritage Softail Classic, I'd be damned happy about it, and I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen on a Harley at all!

And btw, can't believe I'm about to say this but, Marisa looks ridiculous in those faded cutoff overalls. Love the black pants on her, but not the denim.

How come the bikes I image buying from Harley Davidson, is sold off or shut down. (MV Augusta & Buell)? :p

Once Kawasaki released the GPZ550 (ok, I'm old), I was hooked on sportbikes and rode nothing but sportbikes for the next 25 years. I couldn't figure out the Harley thing because I didn't think it took any skill to ride one. Our department went to Harleys and I was depressed until I started riding them. big? Yes. Heavy? You bet. Performance? Are you kidding?

What I learned was that it takes even more skill to ride an Electraglide fast or tight because unlike a sportbike, any deficiencies in your riding will be magnified 10x over. After riding the HD for a couple of years, my skill level actually increased on the police ST as well as my sportbikes and my dirtbikes. I also realized that there are times when I just don't feel like getting suited up and hopping on a GSXR,ZX,CBR,R1/6. Maybe it's age, but lets face it, all of us will get old someday.

It's nice to just jump on a simple bike like a XR1200 and stop for a quick bite to eat or hanging out with some friends (the non riding ones anyway).

It looks like English, but I don't understand.

Does this explain why I've never seen an Elecraglide go fast in a corner?

I think that myth was busted on the Feb 2008 HD thread.

I like em, almost every one I see. I don't want one, but I like them like I like a 67 Camero RS Convertable, or an old Merc. They look good, have some chrome and some have nice, old fashioned muscle car paint jobs.

Metric cruisers are cool too, the one in this thread is :drool, but I don't see buying one anytime soon.

Just gonna leave this here again:

Was watching the speed channel about 1/2 hr ago. Motorcycle add shows some chain gang guard (rough complection, mirror glasses, shot gun etc) looking over a desert. Pans over to the hard core chain gang swinging pics. Cruiser rumbling down the road............typical uniform and bad attd blah blah blah. Caption was something to the effect of "gawk at your own risk". Add was for 3 Honda cruisers.:laughing

edit: guess "you meet the nicest ppl on a honda" wasn't working out as well as it used to. Marketing ain't exclusive to the motor co.

I think the executives over at Levi's (Silvertab division), Red-Wing Boots, Black Fruit-of-the-looms t-shirts, the NFL and Harley-Davidson are all in cahoots in the conspiring of a "life-style" campaign ad while drinking Budweisers on a conference call...

Wait another 20 years and this may make sense to you....

I started out on metric cruisers, but after dragging my pipes keeping up with a mellow ride I made the switch to bike with proper geometry.

You can ride a fast bike slow if you want, but you can't ride a slow bike quickly.

That's why some of us have multiple bikes :teeth
