Ride slow? You can ride any bike as slow as one should be going as slow as the conditions permit.

Difference is..You can ride a super capable bike as fast as the conditions permit as well.

Owning a Harley will change Your Life? That's real cute, as long as the change isn't defined. Losing your eyesight will change your life, but you don't see anyone paying to get their sight removed.

And... the Harley ads don't mention..Own a Harley and join the crowd of knuckle dragging not very bright, don't know how to dress for what they are doing, look like you spent most of your life in prison loser, sociopath, crowd. :laughing Yeah that something to want.

If I intend to play on 84 I'll take the Kawi. If I'm heading over the hill to Nev, on a multi day trip including fwy time or two up w/ gear I'll take the Dyna. On my 110 mi commute on 280 / 84 / 1 it's a toss up depending on my mood. The Kawi tends to be boring unless I'm playing. Guess I could just change the bars and have the best of both worlds:laughing

You could...Several Members on the ZX-10.net site have PM'd me thanking for inspiring them to make the handlebar conversion...and how that transformed their bikes into something they didn't know it could be, in superior handling on anything the public road can dish out, and a comfort that turns the bike into ride all day day after day, no distance limits.

Or...you could not do it...it all depends on you.

Play can be anywhere at any time...it's always fun to be ready for it, when it presents it's self. :ride

Harley Davidson

Once Kawasaki released the GPZ550 (ok, I'm old), I was hooked on sportbikes and rode nothing but sportbikes for the next 25 years. I couldn't figure out the Harley thing because I didn't think it took any skill to ride one. Our department went to Harleys and I was depressed until I started riding them. big? Yes. Heavy? You bet. Performance? Are you kidding?

What I learned was that it takes even more skill to ride an Electraglide fast or tight because unlike a sportbike, any deficiencies in your riding will be magnified 10x over. After riding the HD for a couple of years, my skill level actually increased on the police ST as well as my sportbikes and my dirtbikes. I also realized that there are times when I just don't feel like getting suited up and hopping on a GSXR,ZX,CBR,R1/6. Maybe it's age, but lets face it, all of us will get old someday.

It's nice to just jump on a simple bike like a XR1200 and stop for a quick bite to eat or hanging out with some friends (the non riding ones anyway).

My second bike was a gpz550.... I went everywhere on that thing :)

I am quoting this for posterity, hoping naively that it will be the definitive /thread to the HD vs. Sportbile monthly menstruation. :x

Yes, it was a great bike. Back then, HWY 9 and 35 were wide open. The good old days :)

Fred at Hollister Honda let me take out the VTX 1800 for a couple of days. I also rode a Star Stratoliner. Superior performance/fit/finish to HD IMO.

Now I have to buy a Harley so I can hate you from both sides. :twofinger

rode the Roadliner recently...the thing is a beast....lotta torque, good hp, and handle well for a 750lb long bike..:wow

so you're the one that put the miles on it...how ya like the Cobra exhaust..?

too loud..?

This is what happens when you ride a Harley without the proper skills....Student rider rode the thing up the side of the mountain. What goes up must come down :)

A Harley would change my life. I'd have to start eating Ramen noodles every night for starters.
