pepper sprayed for "walking too close"

I'm sorry if I missed something, but what laws were broken at this rally? And where did I endorse breaking laws? Strawman doesn't really do justice to your logical fallacy.

Aside from the felony assault on the police officer and disobeying police instructions? Probably assembling without a permit and blocking traffic. But the assault was the reason.

The other video and information about the police responding to the officer who was attacked certainly puts things in perspective. This is a good example of how a video only tells part of the story, and only from one angle. Crowd control situations can get out of hand quickly.

As for the female officer, I think her threshold of danger was a bit lower than the other officers on scene. For no one else was using any physical force. It looked as if she wasn't even trying to spray that particular teacher as he walked by on his cell phone. She was spraying to keep the crowd back and it looked as if she was focusing on others, behind the teach and he got caught up in the over spray.

My guess is that the agency will settle out of court on the civil lawsuit. Her actions are right up to the line of excessive force. In other words, criminal charges are possible, but I'm betting she doesn't get charged due to the totality of the circumstances.

Huh. I didn't see the teacher attack anyone. I am getting older though, it's quite possible my eyes are going.

Or your reason. An officer was attacked and a police line put up to protect him. Mr mom call decided his call was more important than following instructions.

A day on the beach I'll bet. Some folks really aren't inclined for work in certain capacities.

But hey her credit is probably awesome and so was her collegiate GPA!

:dunno

Some people aren't cut out for police work. She might just be one of those people.

You mean when he was leaving the area as instructed, posing no threat? Yep, definitely deserved to be punitively sprayed for daring to walk within 20' of an officer who is obviously not able to rationally make decisions in any kind of stressful situation. Love how she waited until he was past cause he was such a threat.

Like I said, he went to a peaceful MLK rally, and because someone decided to act like a piece of shit, everyone should get a face full of her bottled hormones.

I especially like the way she sprayed into the wind when no one was in front of her, thus proving your idea that she was only using the spray to protect herself, as opposed to just being an angry bitch with a badge.
She should be promoted for her ability to think calmly.

afm199 is really into blaming the victim recently.

If you're not paying attention and happen to walk into a buzz saw, is it the buzz saw's fault ?

"OMG cops is ALL BAD !!" well then, maybe it would pay to take notice of them, when they're in the vicinity ? :dunno

That LEO gal, was obviously excited... I sure wouldn't want to get anywhere near her

:rofl

If someone is wildly swinging the buzz saw indiscriminately, it is definitely the fault of the saw operator.

Didja read my cool little story about how quickly things can change, and getting caught up in something entirely not of your doing?

I might see it along the lines of a moto vs car accident where a rider with proper technique and skills would have avoided the incident that took out the noob, but I refuse to hold the car innocent of violating the rider's right-of-way.

LEO, or no LEO, it's pretty dumb to be walking around talking on the phone and being oblivous to your environment..... that shit'll get you jacked or killed near the MacArther bart station, and not by LEO's.

And I would expect the jackers or killers to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

:thumbup

Unless you're condoning rape for bitches that dress slutty?

Try: "Holding people accountable for their actions". There is a contingent on BARF that pretty much believes every police action is an evil plot against the "people". Apparently you're part of that.

Try thinking. I know it's hard and much easier to just have blanket opinions or worship HI, but honestly, you'll be glad you learned how to. :afm199

I get it. If you walk into the street carrying your cell phone and yacking away, it's someone else's fault if you get hit by a car, because you're talking and that's freedom of speech. :thumbup

Just trying to avoid fantasy land, and stay in reality....... why would you think that the jackers or killers will be prosecuted ? I'm pretty sure the statistics will say otherwise.

Either way, as a motorcyclist I've learned that who's "right" or "wrong" doesn't fucking matter if I'm the one twisted into a bleeding bag of bones... it's best to stick to reality ( reality as in: who cares if I had the right of way, if I'm dead and the driver who was in the wrong gets a traffic fine as a result) and take personal responsibility for my safety. Does that make me a victim hater ? :facepalm

Love the hyperbole about the rapey shit, when did you stop beating your dog ? ( yeah, I can do that shit too :twofinger )

Your world may vary.

More like walking blithely unaware on the sidewalk and a car hits you, but you go girl.

Like I said a few posts ago, you and several others are ok with the teacher being sprayed in the face with pepper spray solely because he was in the wrong place, and had the fucking audacity to not pay attention to his immediate surroundings.
I am not for one second saying the world must stop because of this...I am saying the cop was waaay out of line doing what she did.

Odd how none of the other officers standing next to her saw him as a threat. :dunno

i strongly believe in holding people accountable for their actions. walking in a peaceful crowd while talking on the phone should mean someone is liable for... stubbing their toe or something, not getting pepper sprayed or run over. walking on a freeway while talking on a phone means liable for getting run over.

pepper spraying peaceful members of the public should result in liability. it's the inability to demonstrate consequences which has engendered the current round of distrust. which is bad for the police.
