Photos of your bike on location

Wow @ironhead_jay. Every single shot is gorgeous, magazine worthy! A traveling Harley is a cool looking Harley; it has an Easy Rider vibe to it. Looking forward to seeing more of your photos. :thumbup

Agree 100%... cool shit Jay. :thumbup

Colorado was fine. Here it's a little more hairy with the lane splitting. I can stop, just not as soon as I want to sometimes. I miss those mountain roads.

Is that an official Scott's damper wrapped around the forks in some of those shots?

Great photos. :newbie

Yep, nice pic's Jay and Scott. Actually everybody always has some good stuff. :thumbup

On location - Friday morning ride via a few of our local canyon's. No *$'s posin' for me. :)

I was super bummed that theTaft Rally was canceled this year...so I asked a buddy and went ourselves (at least for the first part to Paso Robles):

Just want to thank Gary856 for starting this thread over 10 years ago. :thumbup I need to work on the spectacular background part. I wish I had your eye for framing a picture.

Gary856's first post below.

Let's see your favorite photos of your bike on location, with a spectacular background. Tell us where the photo was taken. The emphasis is "on location". Don't post photos of your bike sitting in your driveway unless you live in Hearst Castle. :twofinger

Below photo was take on Hwy 1, about 40 miles north of the Golden Gate. I was heading south toward San Francisco. I think that foggy area in the upper left of the photo is Jenner.

Yeah, thanks for starting this thread. I've made more posts here than in any other.

As to framing a picture, you can always crop it later before posting. I'll often do that. Usually it's because I need to get the horizon back horizontal again, though. :laughing

Awesome pictures, Alex.
....and I really like your bike. :thumbup

...and yes, thank you for the thread idea, Gary.

Today's goal, ride to the top of Trinity Mountain. I made it to the top, the bike was one corner short.

The normal route to get there is Blacks Creek Rd starting at I-84. I actually caught the road a bit earlier then found out I couldn't get through where they're fixing the freeway overpass over that road, so eight miles further east to the detour. This is some of the scenery along Blacks Creek Rd on the way up to the town of Prairie.

Quite a bit of the forest has been burned in the past few years. Other parts were green.

I'm trying to get to the top of that mountain.
JWCBLfK.jpg

This is the end of the road for all but motorcycles and quads less than 50" wide. It's another mile and a half to the top.
J0bmn50.jpg

Got stuck a couple of times heading up the steep rocky road. This spot took two tries to get through. I run out of breath quickly above 9000 feet.
BU7SV3j.jpg

The last hairpin turn was too much for me. Oops. I parked it there and walked the rest of the way.
UPE9WfA.jpg

This is the lookout at the top. A guy lives there all summer looking for forest fires starting. That's his quad, which he takes down into Featherville once a week for supplies.

This is what the road looks like between the corner where I parked the KTM and the top.

An amazing view in all directions from the top.

Wow, awesome pictures Scott.

J0bmn50.jpg

I zoomed in and saw the sign saying the road is closed to motorized vehicles. Was there something else saying that motorcycles were permitted, or are you saying less than 50'' because that's how wide the gap between the gate and the post is?

Thanks, Bill (bikeama) and all. What's interesting in this thread is seeing the distinctive style of each person's photos. I see you and Scott have upped your game already. :thumbup

Introducing my latest addition. The seller from San Diego rode it 600 miles to my house last Sunday. I haven't bought a bike for 2 years, so I couldn't sleep for a week due to my excitement. I've been looking for a XB12X for a quite a while, it's surreal to see one actually sitting in the garage. Can anyone recommend a good Buell mechanic in the South Bay?

I thought it was printed on the sign, but looking more closely at another photo I see that someone wrote it in magic marker. That is also likely the width of the opening.
