I thought I was able to easily ride up farther on the DR650 with knobby tires than I did last time on the 690SM with street tires, but the road's more rutted than I remembered so I got no farther this time. (I was more stressed about riding back down in the rut than heading up, but in reality riding down is generally easier than up.)

Poking around town, breeze is up from the north with a good chill despite the claimed 70's. The rock is a bit bashful today, and snuggled into the grey by late afternoon.

Interesting how a simple sign can affect the psyche - it created a sense of foreboding and added to my stress as I dealt with the challenging terrain.
