RIP Anonomous Squid on Highway 17

This is another in a continuing stream of bummers. Great write up Rob. You're writing has my respect.

Like a previous poster, I really hope he didn't leave any kids to have to grow up without their Dad.

A coupla points are worth mentioning here. A coupla posters mentioned that lanesplitting may have contributed to this accident. It did sorta like the crew that installed the guardrail he hit. It was a part of it but it wasn't the cause. He died 'cause his riding style wasn't appropriate to the conditions. Period.

Let's try and keep this on subject. This kind of thread is not a good forum for flaming.

I dread having to see these threads when I come to work Monday mornings.

R.I.P.

i was in that traffic yesterday for over 2+hours, i knew it was an accident but didn't know how bad it actually was. i am very sadden to hear of a fellow rider losing his life at such a young age. to all the riders out there reading this thread and this post PLEASE TAKE IT EASY AND RIDE WITHIN YOUR LIMITS, LIFE IS WAY TOO SHORT AND WE ALL HAVE SO MUCH TO LIVE FOR. I know that i do.

rob, great post.

young rider, may you rest in peace:rose :(

Rob,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, wisdom and a good write-up. I hope we can all read between these "lines" better than we see between the "lanes".

RIP young rider.

First decent post I've ever seen from Rob.

Part of me feels bad for the rider while another part of me thinks "oh well, Darwin at work". I hope this is a good wakeup call for a lot of people who think they are invincible, especially on crowded public roads.
RIP.

I remember when i was 18 (32 years ago).

You don't want to listen to anybody. I bet, if i saw a crash like that at that age...i definitely would have slowed the f*ck down.

After coming up on a couple of accidents the last year. I slowed the f*ck down.

The dead only know one thing. It is better to be alive.

Hey Rob,

It sux that you had to witness this, but in reality it might of actually served someone as a good thinking tool. I mean, if you hadn't seen the accident you wouldn't of posted about it, right? Then it wouldn't of even crossed anyone's mind this morning to slow down after he/she had read your post last night or whatever, you know?

I'm the type of person that needs facts and the type that thinks "justice" is needed. I'm sorry for the death of this rider, but if you're riding out of control, crashing is inevitable.

RIP to the rider. Please learn from other's tragic mistakes.

Ahh, me and Mort were finishing up Old SJ and Old SC around 7PM yesterday and I noticed that the traffic on NB17 was really really slow.

Rob, thank you. Good write-up.

To the rider - you got the express ticket to your afterlife, I surely hope it was worth it... damned shame you had to buy real estate like that but at the same time, I have a feeling most 'saw it coming'. Hopefully this tragic and graphic death will give others a reason to ease off on the throttle hand in heavy traffic or dangerous conditions. I know it will with me.

Normally I'm a bit of a gear nazi, but in this case, I don't think it would have helped. Perhaps make the 'open vs closed casket' question a bit easier, that's about it. The key here is, no amount of gear will save you from riding dangerously. So, don't do it.

My condolences to this man's family; they did not deserve to lose someone at such an age in such a manner. RIP

RIP :rose

Where are my mojo points when I need them?

And who want to nominate GSXR for Darwin Greatest contributor award for the betterment of the breed.

I dont think I'll get a GSXR anymore. Too scared now.

RIP to the rider...

Do that stuff on the highway and YOU shall pick your own destiny.

RIP :rose Khea

I just learned that it was my childhood friend. To anyone who wasn't at the accident scene and would like to place judgement on Khea, please don't. Your time will also come.
