Salt water reef tanks.

You mean like those nano style tanks? Those are okay for beginners but only get small gobies(stay away from mandarins or scooters) or clown fish, gentle shrimp like skunk cleaners or sexy shrimp or small hermits and easy corals like xenia and zoanthids.

my mandarin did well in my 24 gallon nano. but im some sort of expert :rolleyes

honestly i got lucky, some of them dont last because they are picky eaters, but i got some sort of... well, something, in a squirt bottle that had little dead orange things that cost 30 bucks a bottle. but he or she really liked it.

Factor that is a majano anemone. You don't want that thing in your tank. It will spread and sting the shit outta the expensive stuff. Get rid of it now before it does spread. You can use a kalk paste to melt it without harming or upsetting water.

o man, i thought it was one of those... but i have been outa the game ( and still am) so i didnt wanna say anything in case i was wrong lol. but those are the ones that grow like weeds and take over the tank right?

ahhww majanos is what i was thinking, so vento you going to give me your spare saltwater tank, the wealth of knowledge you have must mean you have like 6 tanks... ill take good care of it!!

You sure they're majanos? There was a period when my lights burned out and I couldn't afford new bulbs so had to manually feed them and my cleaner shrimp and clown fish would steal food straight out of their mouths. Oh and the most expensive thing in my tank is .....uhhh.... clown fish?:laughing

I see how you think they're majanos now(not my pic. Majanos on the left, aiptasia on the right).

I think I just have a crappy camera but the tentacles on what I have are sharper where the majanos are rounder.

Factor well you seem like a smart guy and you have obviously looked into this youself. So looking back at your pic and reading again what you posted. It's more than likely it's aiptasia. Now what kind of tank are you keeping FOWLR or are planning on getting corals. If you plan on a reef tank then get rid of the aiptasia. If you plan on only fish then yah it's fine. Just most people don't like the stuff cus it spreads so fast. It's better to take care of it now while there are only a few.

Ar15 I wish I had another tank to give out. I have been thinking of getting a biocube. Anyways the tank and equipement is cheap compared to the livestock.

Personally I like corals more so than the fish. Fish are so hit or miss. I've lost soo many of them it's so weird. And before some of you guys say anything. It's not the water. It's competely random as to which ones live and which ones don't. My tank is over a year and half old and the very girt fish I put in is still doing well. Like I said completely random.

ino, i have a 24 gallon nano... and i just dont wanna pay the 40 bucks for live sand, 100 for some live rock... and well you know how it goes.

but my gf bought a house so i dont have to move every 6 months so i may start her back up once my income picks up with upcoming job... time will tell.

is there any good stores in the eastbay anymore, ino the one in hayward closed. and the one in south fremont moved to san jose. anyone name anything within 30 mins of union city? and not in SF

It's not aiptasia. I have that in my tank but the camera just washed most of color away. I do have one in my tank but if it gets out of control I can "rent" burghia nudibranchs to clean it up.

I've only been to "All About Fish" and "Petco" in Concord and they're both overpriced. Even though you don't want to go, the best places are in SF. Mainly "Lucky Ocean" and "Ocean Treasures". Damsels were $4 when I was in Concord and damsels are $3 here. Cleaner shrimp were around $20-$25 and I can get them at "Lucky Ocean" for $15, $12-$13 for a smaller one. I know Derek at "Ocean Treasures" has coral sales from time to time for already cheap corals plus he rides too.

Any one got ideas on how to get my lunar wrasse out of my tank? For that matter any one want a nice sized lunar wrasse?

There's the PITA way which is to take all your rocks out and drain half the water to net him or you could buy a fish trap. I also heard of waiting until the fish sleep and taking a flashlight with a red filter and try it then but some people argue that fish can see red light.

I'm trying to get rid of my lizard blenny and my coral banded shrimp. Both are too big, too mean and got to go.

really your coral banded shrimp is to mean? Hmm whats the min size for the lizard blenny. Since I'm only doing one fish in the nano in my room it might be ok for just him.
Getting ride of all my rock is a real pita. The wrasse does sleep at night I know where his fav sleeping spot is I can see him there while he is sleeping. I'm sure he will wake as soon as I move the rock and take off. That little fucker is fast too.

The shrimp would be fine in a 5 gal by himself. The blenny would need at least a 10 gal. You can house both in your big tank. I bet the shrimp is so mean he can hold his own against the lunar wrasse.

The lunar wrasse destroyed a huge arrow crab I had and to many hermit crabs for me to keep track off. I'm pretty sure the wrasse will eat the shrimp in less then 2 days.

went out to the city today. Picked up some more hermit crabs. A foxface for my large tank in the living room and a fire fish for my nano in my bed room. Once I get rid of the lunar wrasse I'll replace it with a nice flasher wrasse.

Take pics. I got some ottocinclus catfish to eat the algae off my freshwater tank and some red zebra danios(also freshwater) I was about to buy the royal gramma too but didn't have enough money for all three.

These danios are really pretty and look like saltwater fish.
