Salt water reef tanks.

Shit, I just replied in your grab bag thread.

Any chance a local shop could take them in for you until your tank is back up?

I just can't afford to put the tank back up. I'm moving as soon as I can get my finances in line and replacing all the plugs and plumbing + the sump just isn't in the cards for me.

You know what they say- if I didn't have bad luck I'd have no luck at all. :(

I had a fire in the sump area of my 100 gallon salt water tank. All the plugs to the skimmer, power heads, and return pump went up in flames. I don't have the money to replace the equipment right now so, sadly, my fish need new homes.

Pair of false pecula clowns paid $15 each a couple years ago- my favorites and are now full sized and a very happy pair.
Blue Hippo Tang- medium-small size- paid $50 about 9 months ago
5 or 6 Damsels, large pair all blue, two small blue with yellow tails, two small yellow.

Please come get them and be so kind to give me a reasonable price for them. Most importantly you need to have a good tank to put these guys in.

You can reach me by pm or ericscrabble at yahoo dot com

Must go asap, I don't want my fish friends to die. :(

home owners/ renters insurance?

home owners/ renters insurance?

I'm going to look into it. Depends on our deductible but I think it's going to be worth placing a claim. At least the fish went to a good home. Hope they survive the stress and make it. I had the pair of clowns for a couple years and the blue tang was beautiful.

What's the potential $$$ to get back up and running?

yeah blue tangs are great looking fish. good luck with that, dealing with insurance no matter how good of company ist much fun.

Just got off the phone with the Insurance co- $1000 deductable for home. I'm going to have to add things up and find out if it's worth it. My agent has a call into an adjuster to see if livestock is included. We can make one claim every 5 years without it jacking up our rates so I need to be really sure it's worth it.

The skimmer alone was almost $400
Power heads were $100
Pump was about $85
Sump was a couple hundred
Stand was a couple hundred
plumbing probably around $30-40
Fish, corals and inverts, dunno yet. Had a couple lps and sps frags that were about $50 each.
Drapes may or may not need to be dry cleaned and since the drywall behind the tank was all smoked up it needs paint. Looks to be no water damage from the return melting so that's good at least.
I've had all the windows open all last night and today and the place still smells like smoke.

Depends on the company. Just sayin'.

Nobody wants my bursa trigger? Okay. I'll just trade it in for store credit.

Depending on your insurance company or even the adjuster that comes out to take a look at everything, livestock should be covered since CA considers all pets as property.

Anyone ever go back to freshwater? I broke down my 20 gal fish only and I'm moving my 12 gal nano into the 20 gal and turning the 12 into a freshwater. Got some water and gravel from a buddy who has a freshwater tank and have a platinum angel, 2 skunk cories, and a male swordtail in there. As soon as the store gets neon tetras Im going to grab 6 of those and a gourami or 2.

I just got some fish last week. The firefish is old so you can just ignore that.:p

Other than someone telling me to read 5 pages of this thread.....

Anyone know someone who will set up, clean, etc, etc, etc... a large salt water tank?

After I had a red slime algae outbreak this damsel was stained. It's called the "pink-tailed, yellow damsel":laughing

Much rock work was disturbed by this.

I really want to get some more fish for my 65 gal tank but no funds. I would love to pick up a flame angle and yellow tang or blue hippo tang

I'm saving up to buy a 75 gallon tank and stand. *sound of toilet flushing*
