But i'm the kind of person that likes having things on me _at_all_times_ don't want to carry around a few USB thumb drives just to fumble around to find something i'm looking for.

This.

USB OTG has its place, but honestly people saying lack of SD storage isn't a big deal and justifying it by saying "Just carry around this other cable and a USB drive and plug more shit into your phone" as if it's convenient or professional/not stupid looking? Cmon.

I have a phone, I want to use the phone. Not a bunch of accessories with it.

I gave up on wanting an SD card on an Android :dunno
oh and the fact that my last phone with SD.. I simply never needed to change the card. I only used it as a memory extension. (Hmm, maybe I did change/use a reader once)

OTG is funny. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't . It varies between phones that's for sure.. and definitely between KitflapJammyJam OS upgrades, too! (BTW for that reason I ain't even caring to upgrade to whatever version 5, I mean Lolilop)

I'm still on an S3, which works fine. I keep it cause I like my astronomy cover. :teeth

Well, there is actually a real reason. My wife's and my contract has already expired. I'm waiting for my son's plan to expire, so I can explore a different plan and upgrade all of us at the same time.

I sounds like many people have many different uses and needs. Which I believe was the selling point of the Samsung phones. Good solid phone with lots of options for people to add things or not.

This new one seems like all the shit I hate about Apple. You want more memory fine you can have it, that will be $200 more, even though you can buy a 64gb sd card for $20. You need a new battery? Take it in and have it changed for $100.

I personally love the removable battery. I keep an extra in my office and one in the RV just in case I need it. The batteries are cheap and last a long time, and using the original one every day for a year the battery does not work as well as it did when new. Nice to put in a new battery for $10, its like getting a new phone.

I say F Samsung just like I say F Apple.

I will just keep my S4 another year or so or buy an S5 for cheap and let that last for two or three years.

Becuase it's a piece of shit that doesn't work consistently:

Home button stops working and requires a restart almost daily

Randomly places phones calls. I've had multiple random 911 calls. The phone just calls 911.

Randomly starts draining the battery for no reason. Every couple of weeks the battery just starts draining and I get about 6 - 7 hours of battery life. When I look at power usage it is just listed as Android OS using 70% of battery. Requires a reboot that usually works.

Automatic display doesn't work worth a shit and the phone just randomly goes bright and dark when it feels like. To get a consistent screen brightness I have to turn the autodimming off and just set the brigntess to it's lowesest setting.

If I actually get to go 2 - 3 days without restarting for the other reasons, the phone slows down so much it is unusable and I have to restart it just so it doesn't take 3 full minutes to switch to a new app.

The dumb fucker randomly reset and I lost all my contacts. BEcuase the stupid fucker would last less than a day on the battery I turned off all the stupid fucking Android bloatware in an attempt to make the battery last the day. This means my contacts didn't synch, and when the stuopid fucker reset itself I lost all my contacts and could not recover them.

The Android bloatware is fucking ridiculous and makes the updates I had to do on my iphone look innocuous by comparison.

Holy fuck, turning off the google "I'm going to report back to the mother ship everytime you fart" is a pain in the ass and it randomly turns itslef back on no matter how many times I go into settings and turn that shit off. I just want a fucking phone, I don't want the goddamn device to record everywhere I go and everything I do.

That's why I hate this Samsunbg Galaxy S5 Active pile of shit. It's by far the worst device I've ever had and I regret getting it every day I've owned it.

Dear lord. My Galaxy Nexus never had any of that crap and worked great. My Galaxy Note 4 has more of the bloat and crap, but I honestly place more of that on my change to Verizon than to my device. Sounds like your device is a real crapper though. :dunno

ZOMGWTFBBQZORS?!?!?!1! Samsung has copied Apple's unbelievably successful way of making smartphones with a form>function thinking, with no upgradability or serviceability (almost forcing you to just upgrade after a couple years)?

Say it ain't so.

Your might be butt dialing 911.

Butt dialing, front pocket dialing, jacket pocket dialing, laying on top of my desk at work dialing, in an empty pocket of my backpack dialing........

Every company turns out a clunker now and again. My S5 Active is a piece of shit and I hate it. Others may have wonderful experience with their phones, but mine sucks rancid smegma off a dead serial killer's balls.

Yes. The Hate.

Not getting one of those. My Note 4 has been serving me well and will eventually be replaced with a Note 5 when it comes.

I'm gonna absolutely buy a 64 GB gold S6 Edge. Went into an AT&T store to check out the demo black and white models and they are quality. I imagine the gold or the green ones should be absolutely stunning.
I've done some extensive research and put a lot of thought into the S6 purchase I'm going to make sometime soon.

Here are my thoughts on the pros and cons:
1. No micro SD storage - When I got my current S4 2 yrs ago I was hearing others having all sort of problems with their SD cards losing the data, having to be reformatted, corrupted by the phone. Most of them were using like Kingston or Sandisk cards. So I got a 64GB official OEM Samsung card thinking if it was same brand to brand it would be alright. Wrong. It lasted me and worked well for most of the nearly 2 yrs I've had it, til recently it finally corrupted and I lost my data on it. Not a big deal since I had everything backed up, but still annoying that it happened. So, my opinion on removable storage is that it is shit and can't be trusted. I don't care if its Samsung, HTC, Apple, I don't care. On board storage is quickest and reliable, albeit more expensive. I'll prolly never want or care for removable storage ever again.

2. Removable Battery - This one I actually kinda care about since I do have the extra battery charging station and a second battery for my S4 and always have a freshly charged battery ready to go. I've had to use it several times but only mostly used it as a emergency backup when I was traveling and didn't want to be a wall hugger or if I played a few games of Clash of Clans that is really battery draining. One thing about my S4 is the lack of quality feel to it that I've missed since the iPhone 4 days, front and back glass with aluminum frame. In order to achieve a solid quality feel, a phone just cannot have a removable backplate. So its a tradeoff I'm willing to trade in order to have that premium feel on my phone again.

As radvas said above, the bloatware and locked bootloader that denies the ability to load custom roms are good reasons to be pissed about the S6. I'm hoping theres a way to buy the phone straight up from Samsung so it doesn't have the carrier specific bloatware and comes sim unlocked. I've heard the Tmobile sold version will have unlocked bootloader, and a root exploit has already been confirmed for it by Chainfire and it will work on AT&T network. So that's a workaround and good news. If buying from AT&T even if buying off contract you will still get a locked bootloader, because AT&T are Sons of Bitches they like to fuck with people. If there ever is a Google Play Edition S6 and S6 Edge that would be perfect, unfortunately there are strong rumors Google is discontinuing its Google Play Edition phones, like all of them.

I may have to wait a little bit to see how the rooting development goes, my S4 is rooted and I have free wifi tethering off my AT&T 4GLTE network, and I do use it a lot so its very important to me. If you don't care about these things and just wanna try something different from years of using boring iPhones, the S6 or edge is absolutely the phone to get. There has never, and I mean never been a premium feeling Android phone that rivals and exceeds iphone quality, maybe the HTC One came close, the M8 looks just ugly.

Having the ability to play movies and games on your phone actually matters to so many. I wouldn't have guessed, Im a bit flabbergasted.

Yeah, love my Note 4, might hold out for the 6 though.

FWIW, the non-removable battery may become a non-issue for some considering the adaptive fast charging capabilities out there. That I can charge my Note 4 from zero to 100% in an hour is the cat's meow. I'd assume the Galaxy 6 models will have this.

It is more of a concern for people that will run a whole 2 year contract (or longer) with the same device. Eventually the battery wears out and does not hold a charge as well. Especially for compulsive chargers always topping off their battery.

I actually just read a really informative review of S6 Edge on forbes

dang, you, for making me want new gadgets :D ;)

the guy declares the phone as really rad actually.. *IF* you want the Edge functionality itself. Otherwise I may just get S6 Regular. Seems it's good enough. ... I only wish I had the $700 extra laying around.... or maybe I'll just pretend that's my new camera :x

And then finally, hehe thread on time.

So much whining here. My first smartphone was the Galaxy S (1). The GPS didn't even work, had it replaced a few times under warranty, never worked even after software updates. What a mess.

Switched to apple after having android for about five years. They are just different "flavors" though sometimes the build quality is what decides the likability factor. I like the pricing on Android mid-tier phones like the LGs.

I never liked android til Jellybean came out. It was just waay too buggy prior to that.

That said, you can't go wrong with any newer generation android device nowadays.

The most important feature for a phone to me now is the camera quality.
