Yep. I used to commute up hwy 1 from Santa Cruz and one day the light was so nice I pulled over and took that shot. Love that lighthouse.

I thoroughly enjoyed the photos submitted here. Thought I'd share a few.

This is a photo taken (6-27-13) from the campground at June Lake. It was our last night out on a motorcycle trip.

What do you prefer, a slower telephoto lens with more zoom such as a Nikon 80-400 or sigma 50-500, or a faster lens but without as much distance (70-200mm , 2.8)

I'm not a professional or anything. I just want crisp pictures that I can print.

I did rent the Nikon 80-400mm this last weekend for MotoGP, and it was a great lens, but it was a little soft at the 400 end

You can always do a 70-200 2.8 with a 2X extension. That will give you 400mm with better quality and a lot cheaper then the prime.

Just got back from St. Martin. The runway starts right at a beach, so people hang out and the planes come in low over the beach.

I've seen this kind of pictures and i always thought they were software edited... Just learned that actually my camera could do it, so here's my first try.

The new one? The new 80-400 is supposed to be top notch. Anyway, regarding your question, I'll ditch versatility before I ditch quality. In which case, I'd get something like the 300/4 af-s. They take a teleconverter really well if you must break the 400 mark.

Sweet night shot of the stars. How long did you leave your camera expose?
Cal State East Bay Warren Hall building finally gone. They are going to replace it with another building.
