Skully P-1 what is your take on it?

I'd love to see this technology mature and see where it is 5-10 years.
I'm a junky for data though. I'd love to have my gauge cluster in a in helmet HUD, forward looking infrared camera or radar info for night riding and something like motion activated rear view camera. As it stands now that shit would just add to much weight and size to a helmet. If someone came up with something the size of say then Sena SMH-10 that go do all that shit? Hell yes.

I'd buy one, to be honest. I have a Scala TeamSet, make and receive calls when riding, have music, use GPS, etc. this would be nice to make it all compact and unified.

Would I use all of it all the time? No. But I would buy one...

Despite having 3 rear view mirrors in my car I still look over my shoulder. That said, I'm fine with my Sena paired with Siri to get directions. I dunno, with all that tech integrated into your helmet wouldn't that compromise the weight and structure of the shell?

I put my name into the mix to be a beta tester. I think it could be pretty damn useful in certain situations as long as the users don't get too dependent on it and stop turning their heads.

I hope it eventually looks like this. I think people you pass while splitting would crap themselves.

edit: Just saw this. (June video; repost?)

I signed up for the beta. I'm all for incorporating technology to improve and augment in to my daily ride.

'Njoy your static. :laughing
This helmet has an android GPS device in it--it should work a lot like my Android phone does navigating with no cell signal which is just fine. If you're somewhere you can't pick up GPS satellites, yeah you'll have a problem with any GPS navigation. But once your Android device has the correct maps loaded, it operates like any other GPS device. Sort of. I like my phone's navigation more than my dedicated GPS, which is harder to enter routes, and it may be impossible to get it to STFU.

Lets put it this way: The GPS is going to work as well as the SPOT device does.
GPS navigation and Spot tracking are much different. People use GPS units all the time with good reliability. How are Spot issue relevant here?

i'd be happy with just the rear facing camera:teeth all that other shit can go in the dust bin.

I would rather have siri sing sweet nothings to me than a dude. I hope it's possible to use different voice. Good concept, it's like that google glass shit but for motorcycles

I absolutely love the idea of a HUD. I don't like the idea of the rearview camera, or the phone thing.

The Skully guys are an awesome team of folks and I've played around with an early prototype. I have my reservations about display of any info other than rear view, but I can say the rear view functionality is amazing, no more distracting than your mirrors (and in a lot of ways less because you don't have to look at them for so long to figure out WTF is behind you, or double up with a head check). Without sharing too much, they've done some very clever things to make it work extremely well.

I can't say whether it's worth the price to you, but I can say it is the best (least distracting, most accurate) rear view solution I have ever encountered, including a set of really good well-placed mirrors. That alone is worth a lot, even if you turn off all of the HUD info.

Having spent the better part of my adult life in the military with a HUD helmet, this wouldn't distract me all that much, if any.

i too put my name in the bucket, before i posted it on BARF.

Nope.

I ride to get away.

This is stopping you from getting away. It's providing an easier way to manage what most already do on a motorcycle minus the calls.

It would be a shame to toss all that tech & money into the trash after a single drop/crash.... and have to repurchase again.

In Ca motorcycle helmets are covered by insurance since the law states that a rider must wear one while operating a motorcycle.

I signed up for the beta and I may put some money towards that kickstarter. This stuff is the future of motorcycling and will be very common in helmets moving forward in the near future.

wait i can put money towards it?

I'm sure that with all the features, you can also disable them to have a quiet peaceful ride. My main concerns are:

-is it DOT/Snell approved?
-do they provide crash test reports for public to view?
-how durable are the bells & whistles? Would they stop working even after minor crash, or a simple drop on the ground, or can they withstand a moderate blow on the helmet?
-Warranty, different for helmet and features, or the same for both?
