Skully P-1 what is your take on it?

Rear camera seems totally unnecessary (imo) but the HUD with an option to display stats like RPM, lap time, position, speed, g's, fuel, or whatever would be tits

hud style GPS sounds tits too

That's 4 of us. No word back since registering. I guess I'll just have to wait for Stark Industries MK VI.

I see (pun intended) an issue with this. This HUD is being projected only 2-3 inches from your eyes, requiring you to severely adjust your focus in order to read it. Your eyes can't focus on both near and far at the same time. You would have to constantly re-focus. And the older you get, the slower you become at doing that.

aint cha shot a gun? it takes practice but you can look down the scope/irons with your right eye and look around your environment with your left. but i bet you they do some clever maths to make the angle such that it displays naturally to your eyes.

I have a nearsighted eye and a farsighted one. The LASIK guy called it natural monovision. So I think I'm perfect for this.

I signed up for the beta last month. Something tells me that I (or any of you) aren't gonna get one unless you have a Twitter account with a star. They seem to mention a lot "increasing your visibility" by talking about Skully on social media. If Ashton Kutcher wanted one, they'd probably overnight him one.

On the fence.
Does anyone know if the pre-order price will be different from the "regular" price? Any $ savings with a pre-order?

Doubt it, you just get to be one of the first people to have it.

Which translates to being a beta tester.

What I like most about it is that it integrates a great deal of stuff that a long-distance rider might use into one interface that attached to the helmet without need for wires (though it's likely I'd still plug in my etymotics and skip the helmet speakers.)

GPS? Yes!
Music? Yes!
Phone? Sure!
Will it do bike-to-bike? Dunno! (could be a deal breaker if I have to still have a com device)
Rear view mirror? Okay! Less important to me.

I'm interested in using one of these things. One of the best things they could do for it though, is to make the hard parts minus the CPU interchangeable so you could move it all into a new Skully without having to pay for the costs of the hardware except for a processor upgrade. That would at least bring the cost of the second helmet down when it came time to replace the old one.

Don't knock it till you try it. The 180 degree rearview alone (with only a touch of eye movement and no depth perception adjustment) makes it a vastly better ride experience than any kind of mirrors, ever. Less distraction, less effort, less blindspot. Whether that's worth $1000 to you... your call, but it's there is zero downside. None. Not in purity of experience, and certainly not in safety.

I personally don't care about nor would use any of the info/data display, but for folks that use handlebar mounted GPS or helmet audio systems, it's also an improvement there.

I'm mainly interested for the mirror view. Ok, rest is convenient.

But I'm majorly pissed off at their asshole-attitude about trying the thing on. I get that startups want to be bitchy princesses, be exclusive and serve rich old people first, so they'll finance their R&D and they can make a cheap version for us plebs, but come fucking on, I thought we motorcyclists were all in this together?
