The Electric Motorcycle Thread

interesting last time I used one it was pretty thick but I guess they've improved it somehow.

Yeah I've never been good at using the foot lever brake it's much easier to use the LHRB, but what's even better is a left regen throttle. I thought it was a little strange at first but it's so nice to have and be able to control your regen on the fly. If I can find a way to put a regen throttle on my Empulse I'd totally do it.

New electric scooter from CSC called the Monterey. Not the best spec, I think even the Sur Ron has higher specs. It's pretty cheap though probably like $2500 to your door. Looks like an electric supercub!

Wow the specs are pretty brutal. I wish they wouldn't bring this junk over to the US. I think this will be dangerous to ride even in the city.

I think an electric supercub would be great, but it would have to have comparable specs to the gas one.

Haha it's like a bike party for ebikes in the mid day. I took my Sur Ron to a bike party one time and some people liked it and some people didn't haha. There was a dude that a very powerful ebike we were going like 40+ and they had those electric unicycles, those things are superfast it's like they're flying. I should post that video haha.

those EUC looks scary to me, I seen people faceplant at speed.

there is a SF group ride also.

I wonder in the bay area if there are more surron/segway owners vs full size electric motorcycles at this point...

The "Monterey" just screams Chinese junk. It's sad that they are importing this because it will inevitably end up in the landfill. Tiny battery, tiny motor, and drum brakes. It looks like a bunch of bottom shelf parts thrown together. Nobody should be riding this.

I have an EUC and you can definitely faceplant at full speed, although it's not very likely. They are a ton of fun to ride and the risk is part of the reward.

47mph is just not enough for a motorcycle that is ridden on public roads. At least with the e-bikes you can use bike paths and ride on the side of the road. I wouldn't feel comfortable riding CSC's Grom knock-off in either the street or the bike path.

Is the $400 prep fee the cost for plugging it in?:laughing

pretty interesting cycle world article, comparing the super cub to an ebike.
I would say small gas scooters, and mini motos are competing again ebikes these days.

Speaking of ebikes, I know that GP sports is a Specialized ebike dealer now, and Motor Cafe sells some euro brand ebikes that I don't recall. Someone told me san jose BMW carries ebikes also, not sure if that is true... Any other moto dealers carrying ebikes?

I doubt there are more sur ron's than electric motorcycles, I've only seen 1 scootin around town other than mine. I know they're out there but haven't seen em.

I'm pretty sure the City Slicker is a motorcycle. It needs to be registered. I guess you could pretend it's a moped and not ride it around town over 30 mph in the bike lanes like I do. But it's too powerful to be a moped also. Now that Monterey you could probably register that as a moped I'm thinking it's top speed is only 32mph.

Makes sense to ride in the bike lane, if ur too slow for the car lane.
They basically have the performance of a 50cc like a Honda Ruckus.

I think south bay is just not good spot for low powered gas or electrics, it's too spread out here, unless you are in the downtown area. More compact areas like SF is more suitable.

Vespa dealer down in San Diego carries the Chinese Niu scooter, claims 45 mph top speed. (Revel scooter share use them, they have it in the east bay)

Vespa has an electric scooter also...
