The NHL Thread, 2012/2013 season

Are you kidding me? I don't give a shit about the guys brain stem, that is his job to protect it. Shawn Thorton is a strait goon goblin! Watch the video, he instigated the whole thing with a guy who was 6'7" and 250+ lbs. He got what was coming to him and thought he would actually win that. Surprise!!! And, he kept talking shit in the box. Got his shit owned properly. I will absolutely laugh at that..

You've never played ice hockey if you think "he instigated it" is how it goes down off the line like that and also if you think theres no code to holding up on dangerous shots like back of the head and neck shots. Thats cool you ' dont give a shit' about the players, just dont be crying when they take it out of the game.

Even since Shawn Thornton arrived in BOS, I've been a fan. While he was in ANA, not so much. John Scott is fucking worthless, a 3min per night skater. :laughing

fuck boston, ever since Chara intentionally ran Pacorietty into the turnbuckle and the colin campbell refused to suspend him because he has a huge fucking bias for them cause his own son played for the Bruins. Also Brad Marchant is a fucking idiot. Seriously FUCK BOSTON

Haha, as long as you are passionate about it, I will not intervene. Though my hatred goes in this order;

1) VAN
2) ANA
3) DAL

Somewhere in there lies Gary Bettman. :thumbup

I tried to take some pictures of the puck in motion.

Anyways, hope this helps.

^ nice

And yeah chara is a nasty player...always has been, but boston takes just as many nasty hits and injuries as any team so not fuck them and you would like marchand if he was a shark.

Oh yeah not you, the other guy that likes underage giraffes, sorry.

Kevin, dude that's freakin sweet; looks REAL sharp!

FWIW, Marchand is a snake, and I like him only because he's Eastern Conference.

snake, yeah but so was ricci, never mind marchment, and the BA loved him..

i play dirty when i'm surrounded by friggin lummoxes..like john scott or chara, not that they belong even in the same sentence, but the little dudes have to play that way nowadays with all the cornfeds on ice.

My free preview ended in January.

For $50, its probably worth it. NHL channel isn't providing very good full game coverage, just games here or there. Wonder what the center ice thing costs on my DIrecTV..

See you guys there tonight!!! :D

I should probably also note, beware of regional blackout restrictions, but you can always bypass that via VPN.

It has both team's feed, which is awesome.

I forgot to include my hardware spec: Samsung Galaxy S3 using AT&T 4G

I'll try to get you some screenshots of my phone and computer, hopefully tonight or tomorrow.

Thanks! I signed up tonight. It also allowed me to test your VPN thing as well since the game is blacked out locally because of the local TV coverage. The VPN connection got around that quite easily. :thumbup

*standing ovation for the 7-game win streak* New one starts on Monday.

I'm torn. While I am a huge Sharks fan, and have been since year one, I am still boycotting this season. Bummer, as I was due for a new jersey and some other goodies this season. I'm still in shock that they had the balls to raise ticket prices this year. Seriously, that took some enormous stones. :wtf

If the prices are still high next year, I'll still support the Sharks with merchandise purchases and such, but I don't think I'll attend my usual 10 or so games. Go Bulls! :laughing

Yeah, ticket prices are a bit of a shocker. I guess they figured that because it's less games, and they need to make the same overall amount, that was how to do it.

Heard an interesting fact, the ownership group changed up a bit with the main owner (Hasso Plattner) buying out a couple more minor owners. The franchise reported a loss of $15 Million last year, and he expects a loss this year. Yet he says he still plans to spend at or near the salary cap to have a good team on the ice.

I like this quote from the article, "You cannot make money with a hockey team," said Plattner. "You cannot make money with a hotel, either, and you cannot make money with a golf club. I have all three of them (laughs)."

No worries man, I'm right there with ya. I'm a big follower of the Sharks and most things NHL, however, this lockout put a big chip on my shoulder. Coupled with the dollar decreasingly in value and everything around us is going up in cost; therefore certain cuts have to be made, and that cut are Shark tickets.

Love the Sharks, will not go to any games this season per my personal boycott of the NHL.

Will only go to games SPARINGLY in the future, i.e. if tickets find their way into my lap.

Sure glad we have an owner who "gets it" and will do anything to win. Make money in other avenues of your life and expertise.

Probably his equivalent to my level of money down the tubes racing. :)

Plattner is a major owner of the San Jose Sharks hockey team and Silicon Valley Sports and Entertainment Group.

All the money from food/services/merchandise etc are funneled through SVSE. This way they can say that they are losing money on the 'Sharks'. It's complete bullshit to think the owner is losing money on the Sharks. It's just a way to write shit off and raise prices while telling the fans poor owner, but we are trying to build a better team, so do your part and pay more for it.

I think it's shitty they raised the prices this year on the fans. Shows they really care. Pay more for sloppier less professional games. Let's face it, the game play has not been spectacular. Without a proper off season, it's just not that great as it should be.

I've boycotted this year for sure. I've cancelled my season tix. I've turned down free tickets. I won't buy any merchandise. I won't pay for a product that isn't worth their asking price. I'll wait til the prices go down to where they should be. And if they don't, i won't show.

For now, i'll just support local businesses and watch from a tv or something else.

Akira, I feel ya, and in many ways, I agree with you. I applaud you and others for sticking to their integrity. In a way, I feel like a cheap whore, but truth of the matter is, I need my NHL fix as much as the NHL/Sharks need their fanbase.

Having said that, I think us Sharks fans are fortunate to have an owner like Plattner. Despite having not won the Stanley Cup, there aren't very many teams that have been consistently good for the past decade. And it's refreshing to know the ownership has the will and the means to continually bring a quality product to San Jose.
