The NHL Thread, 2012/2013 season

ahaha that awesome, I've always wondered how you get chosen for those. Though, the hamster ball race looks like a broken wrist waiting to happen.

I was randomly selected by the Tank Patrol members, sheer chance I happened to be at that place at that time; I rarely enter through the South (Santa Clara) Entrance.

The Rangers beat the Sabres tonight, although it was a strange game, not used to seeing Rangers putting up so many points, but the Rangers are still in the playoff picture and seem to be getting more confident and playing well, all at the right time. We just need to get in the playoffs, so I hope they pick up more points.

Good match up bro, that Shut Out did me in :( That's two tie breakers in a row for ya huh? PM on over the paypal info for payment I guess, grrr :)

could not have been closer! Who would have thought the tie breakers I earned vs you and E-Z would pay off like that. good game. I thought I was screwed when Rask missed Monday's game and then Friday's too. And I almost screwed myself when I picked up Lehtonen and dropped van Reimsdyk...who scored two goals saturday (which would have given me the lead in goals). what a crazy way to win.

kev: thanks for running the league and the new 2 trade max rule was a perfect way to keep the games close.

pm inbound...

Go Me!!!! Braggin rights for the whole year...I'm stoked. :teeth :ride

Thanks Ev.

PM sent Jesse.

so it looks like Sj will get LA, St. Louis, or Vancouver

I was feeling like SJ was going to earn the 4th seed, but I'm now thinking 6th seed against Vancouver...with Torres on our side this time. :cool

And how about a Chicago-Columbus playoff tilt? Seems like a mismatch but I tell you, their season seems really similar to the year the Sharks sneaked in as the 8 seed and played President's Trophy winning St. Louis ('98 maybe?). The infamous Owen Nolan shot from the red line and a SJ win in 7. SJ was 0-4 against STL going into the playoffs that year too...there's a few parallels between the teams for sure. another parallel: Quenville is the coach of the favored team, again.

I clearly see the opposition getting bothered by Torres's presence on the ice. as if they are anticipating a dirty hit. very Marchment-like...not the most talented but he could ruin you if you weren't marking him. Not to mention Raffi's playing as solid as you can ask of him.

He's also a great passer off the wall, which really helps the breakout and he still has great hands. And he is big hitter. Problem has never been his talent, it's been the grey matter between the ears. I can never pull for a player like him, regardless of how good he is or how much he helps the team.

I was huge Flyer fan back in the early 70's, but even at a young age I was able to realize that Bobby Clarke was one of the dirtiest, scumbags that ever laced up a pair of skates. I always rooted for the Flyers to win and someone to level Booby.

Rangers are in the playoffs! They've been playing very well lately, and Lundqvist has been great. The Atlantic and Northeast divisions have been tough all season. Definitely ready for the start of the playoffs.

Rangers v Capitals again, this is getting a little too common. It's still going to be a fun series though, it always is.

The other match ups I am really looking forward to are Bruins v Maple Leafs and the Kings v Blues those are going to be brutal (physical) and the winners are sure going to earn it the hard way :)

Who is starting the playoff bracket challenge? :)

The big question for the Sharks is, as always, which Joe Thornton and Patrick Marleau are going to show up in the playoffs. The superstars or the invisible men. In the last 14 games, Thornton has 0 goals and 5 assists and Marleau as 1 goal and 5 assists. Kinda tough to win with your two highest paid players playing like that.

Sharks management has to be patting themselves on the back for not biting on any trades for Couture. Without his play and without the positive turn of the Burns' experiment, we'd already be sunk. The Sharks need Thornton and Marleau to be a factor against Vancouver.
