The Official 2012 NFL Thread

WTF, the Broncos won their division, then won a playoff game.....so Elway says "F this, get rid of everybody." :laughing

:dunno Meh. The Broncos got in as a Circus Freak in a crap Division. They would have to have gotten to the Championship game to really cast off the shadow of that 8-8 record that snuck in by a one game tie breaker over the Raiders and Chargers, and Elway was on the verge of a rebuild anyway. Now that he has Manning under his paw, it kind of makes sense to do a rapid rebuild for, "win now," mode.

Just seems odd timing....they did the NFL draft together, signed free agents together, then boom you fired. At this point a new GM won't be able to make much impact til 2013.

:shhh

John Elway has his nuts so deep in all management decisions, they really don't have much need for a GM.

Elway is taking "how a former champ manages a pro sports team" lessons from Michael Jordan? :laughing

Apparently.

But it makes sense....80-yr-old QB with career-threatening neck injury, missed an entire NFL season trying to recover, hasn't played a single down in ages. Hey let's bet the whole enchilada on that guy.

Why not?

Elway has a soft spot for the aging QB. He IS on a series of 5 one year deals however, but i still disagree with paying any 35 year old that much money. It all depends on the protection... he can't take hits

Yeah, and that's why Manning went to Elway, rather than a team he could win with like the Niners. I think it's a terrible losing gamble for the Broncos, but I guess we'll see by November.

seriously the broncos was a bad choice

it was about money. if he really wanted to win he'd have gone to SF, but Denver gave him a bigger contract than the last one he got

Look, if you've got maybe a year, two, three at the outside left in you, coming off a career ending injury, you take the money.

:laughing

No way. I am a man of principals. I would have gone to the team that had given me a better chance to make a difference and help a team win a championship.

Wait... scratch that. I just pushed a kid over so that I could get to a quarter on the ground first.

Right. He doesn't care about "his legacy" because if he did he would have gone to a team that was just a QB away from being dominant, played for another 2 or 3 rings, etc.

I mean did he really need another 90 million dollars? He's probably made a shitload from those stupid commercials and advertising anyway.

Eh. Who knows.

Eh. Who knows.

His investment adviser may have a plan that needs another 20-30 mil to execute.

Also, he may wind up paralyzed at this rate, so get it while you can.

the Bronco's got suckered in by "what if". i mean, they went to the fucking PLAYOFFS with that PoS team and TEBOW at QB!

"what if" they'd had Manning in stead?!?!

WHAT IF?!?!?!

:laughing

I'm glad the niners didn't get him, it's much better that they can afford to keep that D together! Next QB they get needs to be a younger long term type guy, the quick fix rarely pays off as one would hope. Best QB's in the league were drafted or traded for at a relatively young age and are still with their original team.

I did. Everytime I saw Ben come on the field that game I winced.

Him even playing was a cheap shot at us fans.
