The Official 2016/2017 NFL Thread

The funny thing is, the Rams caught so much crap for dumping the future into the #1 to pick a QB. Now Philly has dumped the future to take the one that Cleveland DOESN'T Pick, lol.

Maybe it'll be a repeat of the 2005 draft where the second QB picked turned out to be the HoFer? :dunno

This Kawakami guy really has a thing for 49ers brass, eh? It's almost as if he doesn't like them....

Quackamamie is a SoCal shill. AFAIK he's always hated the Niners.

I can't wait to wear my Raiders jacket in NYC and Phily next week.

;)

Cleveland is not going to take a QB in the first round. They'll start the season with either McNown or RG3 behind the center.

5 years, $75 million, $50 million guaranteed.

Panthers are happy they didn't overpay, Redskins are happy they get a good CB, Norman is happy he go paid.

They wont be so happy when he plays like shit because Washington doesnt have the front seven that Carolina does. The Panthers dont play one on one in their backfield. They play a zone and rely on that dominant front. Washington doesnt have that. Norman isnt a shit CB, but he's not nearly as good as he thinks he is, and that will get proven this season.

That's exactly what I said earlier. :thumbup

Norman is just like new Giants pass rusher Olivier Vernon. Decent numbers in a contract year, and due to fortunate timing they both found a team desperate for help at their position and willing to overpay.

That's just how the free agent game works.

ESPN vote poll on NFL's top CB. For some reason, Virginia and the D.C. area went with Norman. :p

That's the joke, he's so anti-Niners it's hilarious. Most biased sports journo around.

Kawakami hasn't always been this way. it started with York Sr and all the absurd interactions, machinations, and failures that have been management driven.

Kawakami gets pretty caustic but I think he's just sick of the bullshit. even as a Niners fan if i'm honest the only good thing to come out of SF ownership in the last 20 years is Harbaugh - including letting him go when they did. verdict is still pending on Baalke.

and by bullshit I mean that all the Yorks have done wrong is follow poorly, comically so, in the footsteps of one of the best owner/gm/head coach(es) combo's ever.

By Cleveland, I meant the 1st Round over all they gave away, which the Rams will now use to take a QB. Clearly if Cleveland was going to go QB, they would have kept the #1. My point is that Cleveland didn't think Goff or Wentz was worth sticking for, the Rams bought the farm to pick one and Philly sold everything for the Second choice after that, and they don't even know who it is yet.

Yeah, I mean, maybe, right? Hell, Brady was picked in the 6th, Montana went at the bottom of the 3rd. Still, I would be pissed if it was my team selling the farm for that much risk.

I'm not a Niners fan and feel the same way. :p

I have a malaise toward GM's. They are so less important, compared to a winning coach. Most any GM can look at a college draft value chart and make half-decent picks. It's not a mental challenge.

Quick, who is the GM of the Super Bowl team Carolina Panthers? Exactly. Dab on that. :laughing

But finding a coach that can win....so rare. Defer to that coach.

I hate to have you undervalue a good GM though. I will again point to the decline of the Giants under stupid Jerry Reese. Draft Bust after Draft Bust, the championship Patriot Busters that Ernie Accorsi built have just been rotting on the vine since he retired. Good coaching is important, more from a leadership perspective than from one of brilliant play calling, but don't undervalue a good team builder as an essential part of operations.

Bradford tells Eagles he wants a trade and isn't showing up to any preseason shit.

lol.

Most GM's could do well enough to keep their job by simply drafting the players Mel Kiper tells them to draft. :p

Can't accidentally coach a team into winning though.

Mel Kiper is an idiot.

Drafting and putting a team together is significantly harder than you want to give credit for, especially in a salary cap league.

But that hair....

Teams have analytics for the draft, they know who can play. What they don't know is how the kid will react, going from broke college student to instant millionaire. That's where the busts happen.

It's amusing yet unfair how coaches have a short window to prove worth, but GM's are allowed to fester for years til they finally get fired.
