Pushing out Harbs was the dumbest thing I have ever seen.

"He doesn't give me the feels and is too intense." He is a football coach, he is supposed to be like that. :laughing

Right? So long as he's not banging cocktail waitresses two at a time no need to give him a slap-down.

Harbaugh is a born leader of men. He walked in the door, told the fucked-up Niners locker room to get their heads of their asses or they'd be kicked off the team. Probably threw some trash cans around like a drill sergeant too. :laughing

Players were like "yes sir, coach." Instant leadership, the players pulled together, because a T-E-A-M and started winning games.

My god that is a load of shit :rofl

Alex Smith, woeful career QB rating of 67.2 prior to Harbaugh. Coach Harbaugh arrived to teach Smith how to approach the QB position, BOOM instantly Smith has a QB rating of 97.4 for his (almost) 2 years under Harbaugh's leadership.

but he wasn't able to make Kaepernick, his personal QB choice, a good QB? Interesting contradiction there.

Every NFL team has talent...the players would not be in the NFL otherwise. Only the well-coached teams are taught how to be winners.

As soon as the Niners stopped having a top 3 defense in the NFL, they stopped being good. The offense was ALWAYS bottom of the league, whether it was with Smith or Kaepernick.

When Justin Smith got hurt and Aldon Smith started being an idiot, that started the downward spiral for the team. Willis hanging up his cleats, Bowman tearing up his knee and missing a full season, and then Borland leaving after an awesome rookie year completely killed the defense. Couple THAT with a less than stellar offense, and you're going to be a bad team.

Wait, no, Harbaugh was the messiah of football -- that's why every other team in the league was lined up to hire him, he just said no to all of them so he could go to Michigan. :rolleyes

You had me all the way up til here...

My family's from Michigan. I know what a WalMart Wolverine is. He did pass up staying in the NFL to go to Michigan. He is the one-eyed man in the land of the blind there. You have no idea how big a deal he is. And the only thing that is going to shake him from his perch there will be losing regularly to State and OSU.:)

Let's go with NO.

The Niners were 11th of 32 teams in Scoring in 2011 with Smith. Ranked #8 of 32 in rushing yards. Pro tip: that's not the bottom of the league. :laughing

But wait, it gets better. In 2012, same thing...11th of 32 teams in Scoring. Except now their rushing attack moved up to #4 in the entire NFL, as Kaep was running wild.

Your memory needs some work. :teeth

The Talent the Niners had at the time was exceptional. Vernon Davis, Donte Whitner, and Patrick Willis in their prime? Aldon Smith picked up 14 sacks that first year, Frank Gore still with gas in the tank. Justin Smith, Ahmad Brooks, Ray McDonald, Joe Staley, Mike Iupati?

That roster was fucking STACKED, especially on Defense.

6 wins, 10 losses. Fucking garbage team until Harbaugh walked in the door and kicked those losers in the teeth.

truth

especially the o-line. one of the best of all time, really. did harbaugh get everything out of it? doubtful. IMO he needed to pass more under smith, and run more under kaep. but that's an opinoin of a sideline guru.

you do you, harbs.

Yeah, the 9ers had a great running offense with Gore. Always top five it seemed. Add to that a top 3 defense and you're going to win some games. They always had a bottom half passing offense for the most part, and when the defense and running game got old....

Bingo.

Or the local economies/municipalities that help pay for the stadiums.

Hahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

Local economies/municipalities NEVER recoup the money they put in erecting stadiums for NFL billionaires.

Gore had 1,100 yards for the Niners in 2014...Gore doesn't get old!

Niners have not recovered from their GM's awful 2012 draft. And yet the GM is still there...what's his leverage? Party pics of the owner?

are those "rankings" purely yardage based? if so, those numbers are one dimensional and not really indicative of total efficacy.

Well, if you look at the Drafts, the new GM took Over in like 2011, right when the team started to decline in recruiting talent. They had a stacked roster, so when the new Coach came in, he blew shit up, and then petered off after a few years as talent aged, left as free agents, Coach was chased out for having an opinion, etc.

It is similar to what happened with the Giants when Ernie Accorsi retired in 2007. We won the Superbowl like the year after he left on the roster he built, managed to pull another one off with less talent as the team continued to decline in 2011. By 2013, the team was so bereft of talent, even a great coach like Mean Grandpa couldn't keep it together. The infuriating thing is they kept Reese and cut Coughlin loose as a result last year.

Yes, but I wasn't talking about the team, I was talking about the talent on the roster. You can't just give a little coaching and Turn ANY old Linebacker into Patrick Willis in his prime.

I forgot who it was, possibly Dubbington and mikeV, I think they're the opposite from me, big 9ers and A's fans. Lots of cross bay affiliations like that.

I think you'll find a lot of people who started following sports in the 80s are A's/Niner fans. The Raiders weren't in the Bay Area, the Niners were banging out super bowls, and the A's went to the WS 3 years in a row.

The rookie QB for the Cowboys was amazing last night vs the Fins. His accuracy and poise and exuberance looks good.

Do they finally have a backup plan for fragile Romo? I say yes.

I didn't see the game. Did he play scrubs v scrubs? If so then he's just the best of the scrubs. That aint saying shit when it comes to playing against the 1st team. Not saying that he can't. Just saying that scrubs v scrubs is no measure of talent/ability when it comes to playing in regular season.

Patrick Willis? I remember him, he's the guy that led the Niners to a losing 6-10 record in 2010.

Do you remember Coach Harbaugh? He's the guy that taught those 6-10 losers how to win. :thumbup

I'm in that bucket. But only because there were no pro teams where I grew up. There were no NFL, MLB, NHL, or NBA teams where I grew up. We used to go watch the CHL OKC Stars. But that league folded just when I was really getting into it. The biggest sports teams were the OU Sooners and OSU Cowboys. I didn't claim a football team until 1994. So I jumped on the wagon just in time to ride it into the ground. And I've been to more A's games than any other pro sport. Baseball is relaxing and even if the game sucks at least I got to spend the day at the park.

Did he teach them to go 8-8 after that? :rolleyes
