Marshawn to Jets: "HOLD MAH DICK!!!"

Speaking of the Jets (Marshall's previous team), they mad at Marshawn dancing on the sidelines.... :laughing

just listened to Papa. He brought up a score: 38-0. also, an event: Mark "Butt Fumble" Sanchez eating a hot dog on the Oakland sidelines.

Yeah, so your team is the one that sucks now, New Jersey-B. Take it, and take it well. You want to tank a season but not be embarrassed. t'aint happening.

in other news, Dolphins suspend Timmons indefinitely.

this is weird. two linebackers in a row from Pittsburgh (Harrisson and Timmons) leave the Steelers and basically attempt to scuttle their new AFC teams with poor play and off-field issues. it's remarkable.

The D is super young too. They're just gonna get better. Foster coming back will be huge for the run D also.

If Goodwin doesn't drop that ball in the 4th Q we probably win that game.

Also if you didn't LOVE watching Tartt completely blow up bitch ass Jimmy Graham, you don't really enjoy football.

Brought a smile to my face.

The whole franchise appears to have turned a corner. The promised land for me won't be #6 though that will be fun. It'll be when my 9ers kick the shit out of teams even after having a bunch of bullshit calls made against them - when an incomplete pass and a holding penalty make it 2 and 20 and we still convert. That's the mountaintop in my book. Unstoppable.

Word... :thumbup

JaCarcass and Gradkowski* QB'd that day... :facepalm

*... and I liked Gradkowski, he often gave them more of a chance than JaCarcass, which he proved when they beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh later that season.

His catches last year were cut down to half of what they were the previous year, looks like if the trend continues, that means 25 catches this year.

Eli looked lost. Stafford, the highest paid QB in the league, threw for what, 120+ yards, and won the game with scrambling and effective ball management. On the other side, McAdoo called out Eli for a botched 4th and goal.:facepalm

If they don't get better play out of Eli do they start looking for a helmet that hi-lights the Afro-puffs of a certain unemployed QB? :laughing

But, they went 0-2 a decade ago and ended up winning it all. :dunno

It isn't Eli. So, the year before McAdoo took over as Head Coach, Eli put up a ghastly number of touchdowns. Only Tom Brady had more, and it was only 1 more. This was the same team with the same rotten O-Line and no running game. The only reason we didn’t win most of that season and get into the playoffs, is we had a league worst Defense. The next year, McAdoo took over as Head Coach and the Offense has been in the toilet ever since. It is a combination of failing to develop this O-Line and not adjusting the playbook to shore up weaknesses. With the receiving corps this team has, a good couch could put up 35 points every week with far worse than an aging 2 time Superbowl MVP.

All the flak McAdoo got last year about using the exact same look on like 60% of plays. Since then they have added Marshall as a giant target and a rookie TE who is supposed to be the 2nd coming of J-Shock and they are even worse. This can be nothing but terrible leadership, dude.

Niners currently have a top 10 defense. Also 4th in yards per play allowed.

I think they will be exposed later in the season, but that Defensive showing against the Seachickens was impressive. Like I said, right direction.

Having a diminished Beckham isn't helping, having Marshall losing a step or 2 as he hits his mid 30's isn't helping, having a crappy o-line (Flowers?) isn't helping, the head coach calling the plays isn't helping, and if they're rebuilding, does Manning have the time or fortitude left to do that? How many times did he get sacked last night, 5? He wasn't even touched for one of them....

One of the sacks I was worried Eli was next in line for neck surgery. And I'm not joking. I was surprised he got up uninjured from that hit.

reddit has a curated forum for every major sport.

Google search for "reddit sportstreams". i.e. - nflstreams, nbastreams, soccerstreams, etc....

the streams available will change as games go live and end, the mods keep everything tidy

now that it's been brought up i feel obligated to provide a PSA of sorts for BARFers who may try this at home. apologies in advance if this offends anyone's sensibilities. i just want to help BARFers not make avoidable mistakes if this is something they're going to explore

if you choose to look into this here are a few tips
  • never pay any money
  • always protect yourself
  • understand the risks and limitations
  • find the reputable streamers and stick to them

1. - these sites are free, they make money off ad overlays. if you're prompted for a credit card or money close the site and never go back, they're trying to scam you

2. - preferably use a PC running AV on a web browser with AdBlock and FlashBlock extensions installed and running

if you choose to view a stream on mobile understand you're going to have to click through a few ad overlays

3. - related to the above, understand these streams can be a way for malware to spread via the ad overlays and flash. do not view streams that force you to use flash, there are plenty of alternative options such as Ace streams, YouTube streams, etc

back up all your irreplaceable data on another device. better yet, use an older "throwaway" laptop specifically for streaming sports. if you're comfortable do a full wipe and OS install and only use a browser that has never been logged in to your facebook, email, or bank accounts, etc. (I'm paranoid, ya)

i have an old laptop that i connect to my TV via DVI-to-HDMI cable for just this purpose (i've been playing with W10's screen mirroring via my Roku3, as well)

limitations to be mindful of are streams can be unreliable (buffering/stutters), low quality (i.e. 480p), funky sound (echo-y), and cut off (DMCA takedowns occur around 3rd or 4th qtr usually, sooner for prime time games), and sometimes the streamer will "change the channel"

with those limitations said.... if one stream is buffering there will usually be several others to choose from (or refreshing the page will help). every year the streamers get better and better and often are 720p or better quality. when a stream goes down the owner usually gets a new link up within 10 minutes. and the channel changers usually just do this during timeouts or commercial breaks, hope over to another game or movie, then go back when the game resumes.

as far as legal risk goes, it's minimal. the main targets of DMCA recourse are the sharers, not the consumers. i've been safely doing this for 4-5 years now

4. - the reddit moderators do a good job of deleting the spammy or malware infested links and promoting the good quality links from verified streamers

if you find a good quality and reliable stream with minimal advertisement bullshit go back to reddit and look at the posters screen name. as you watch more and more events keep an eye out for that particular streamer and stick to them.

YMMV and no I won't help you unlock your ransom-wared PC. you've been warned :teeth

Party on Wayne. :party Party on, Garth. :party

The Rams and Chargers home attendance combined total was still around half of the Texas/USC game on Saturday, and the Rams are considered in the top 10?

Damn, the Chargers couldn't sell out a soccer stadium, and there is no incentive to.

Well, I mean, L.A. hasn't been a football town in what, 20 years? Football in Texas IS religion. I think the Rams will be fine. I think the Chargers are going to be in some serious financial trouble as a result of leaving San Diego though

Iron Man is still Iron, but this Coach will be the death of him.

Those weren't all Texas fans in that stadium, and the Longhorn program hasn't been that good for a while. the selling point was this was the first time they played since that game with Vince Young and Matt Lienart.

LA is definitely a USC football town, thanks to a solid run by Pete Carroll, a couple of National/BCS Championships, and that kid Sam Darnold is gonna be a good one. That Rose Bowl comeback/instant classic over Penn State in January made him a star. (BTW, the Trojans are in Berkeley this weekend.)

I think the Chargers are going to be in some serious financial trouble as a result of leaving San Diego though...

That's just it, they won't.

With the way league profit shares, and whatever city down there is building them a stadium, they're gonna keep raking in the cash no matter who shows up or how crappy the on-field product is. :dunno

I think the undercurrent of the article linked says otherwise. To me it's saying that the NFL is turning itself into a business that is almost solely dependent on TV contract income. What happens when that dries up because the advertising dollars start to drop as the result of decreasing viewership? Then what does the NFL do? The owners are raking it in right now...in preparation for the down swing? How much you wanna bet they use it as a lever to cut the cap? I hope he players' union picks someone other than the skeezey dude they have now for president. Whoever gets elected should get in touch with the network executives as the first order of business. Build a coalition against the owners.

If you aren't spending money to win, that's just more money for the owners.

I caught a little of Colin Cowherd this morning, and he made an interesting point about the current drop in viewership... take the Thursday games, the second MNF games, the Saturday night games, the London game, total up the number, it's 22 (per him), and that 22 equals about 9% of the total games played, which, coincidentally, is the percentage of viewership decline.:dunno

The problem is that as the owners begin to rely more heavily on network contracts they are setting themselves up for a leverage play at some point. Screwing fans by building shitty stadiums (or not) and then charging exhorbitant prices for seating is only going to work as long as they continue to print their own money via tv contracts. That starts to dry up because they are losing viewership combined with pressure to reduce the violence of the game to reduce head trauma? Perfect storm to bring the whole thing down.

Who am I kidding tho right? Rollerball...
