The Official 2017/2018 NFL Thread

The playcalling is top notch so far on both sides of the ball.
Offense:
If Shanahan and Lynch can pick an all pro level QB/WR tandem he team is going to start putting up points required to win games. The penalty issue will drop away a bit along with the conversion ratio as the passing game becomes more capable of overcoming longer down and distance.

Defense:
The huge hole here since the beginning of the season has been Toast Robinson. There are other worries but he's the guy every QB/OC is looking at saying, "There's my bitch." We don't need a lockdown corner. Just someone strong enough to give the front time to apply pressure. Again, the coach and GM are going to have to show their game by picking someone to fit the need.

Kaepernick has nothing to do with it, but for whatever it's worth Kap had significant better numbers last year than Hoyer has so far.

I brought Kaep because I am talking about a fan perspective of viewing this years with previous. I still like this new squad and I don't feel as hopeless as I did when it was Kaep throwing em in the sidelines and playing a kind of give up bal (and part of that was Skip Kelly, I add the failed hurry-up experiment). Hoyer actually looked in sync at times in second half and like Eldo says, give them a chance. On the other hand, they gotta get some more TDs and a win or some of the guys will just give up. I just have the feeling that they are not far off. That Seattle game was memorable to me.

You have found some statistical superiority of Kaepernick, which seems unbelievable (but I believe it) but its a different feel altogether....

There's nothing advanced about it. Hoyer's thrown 2 TD and 4 INT through 4 games, Kaep had 4 INT all of last season.

I mean don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's the answer to the team's problems, but after 1/4 of the season Hoyer is basically the worst starting QB in the league.

Kaep just threw it in the sidelines rather than get intercepted. So there wasn't even a chance of a reception. I mean, I got it at the time, that everything had turned to shit but there was a certain sense of just giving up which put the defense on the field for what seemed like tons of time on top of the Kelly scheme.

I do hope somebody hires him that has better protection and we'll see if he is actually better than Hoyer, which I do not. At least now.

He won't get signed. But, I mean last year he was better in basically every statistical category than Hoyer has been this year.

It is what it is, but I just hope it doesn't become demoralizing to the team to have Hoyer being so terrible when the defense is solid.

Shanny's offense does take a year to 'click' though, apparently. Atlanta was bad the first year he was coaching Matt Ryan, too, so hopefully next year after we draft Josh Rosen he'll be ready to step in and take over :teeth

Yeh, bring on the Warriors. I mean, yesterday, I had the clicker. I had Raiduz and Niners. I knew by previous play that the better game was AFC West. Yet I kept returning to field goal shitshow. I dunno, I guess Im still a fan no matter what Jed York did.

Speaking of Raiders, Carr is out 2-6 weeks depending on how long it takes his back to fix itself.

Uh oh.

I thought yesterday was a good day of football. Even though I had Cam sitting on my bench (with 40 pts) I am sooo happy Carolina went into NE and won!!!

The only thing that compares to my hatred of the Ravens is my hatred of the Pats!

Big Ben aint' been doing shit on my Bench. Fix him.

FF fail yesterday. Thought Ben would have a great game against Baltimore who have been awful this year. STarted him for a whole 12.5 pts over Cam with 40pts. :cry :facepalm

For whatever it's worth, Romo and Newton both only missed 1 week with the same injury.

I am surprised at how good Washington's D is. I thought last week was more a fluke. Damn they were getting after it until the injuries started piling up.

was always a big fan of #85 when he and smith were on the 9ers

glad he moved on from denver cuz all he did was block there

imagine if smith came back to play that year under harbaugh, could we have seen like 5 more harbowls throughout the years?

If the Niners had kept Smith, they would have the most Superbowls in NFL History right now. They went with the loser and went to losing. Bad call.

False.

Harbaugh still ran a conservative as fuck offense, he basically tried to turn Kaepernick into Smith with the exception of playoff games against Green Bay.

He relied on a defense playing at damn near historic levels and a conservative offense. Their downfall was the Smith brothers decline.

You are right. They are permasuck.

Well they have a coach that can actually run an offense now.

But a QB that got broken 2 years ago apparently :laughing

BRING ME A JOSH ROSEN.
