Thoughts?
This is all you really need to know.
Ha then they were not trying hard enough or they were in the wrong AWD car.
There is a reason that the SCCA banned Audi AWD's and Mitsubishi Eclips AWD's from racing back in the late 80's and 90's - they absolutely spanked all the far more expensive 911's and GT1 specials. The 911 owners all all of the SCCA's GT1 Class objected, so AWD's were banned for 20 years.
The whole point of high performance AWD cars is that they have unbelievable dynamics at the limit.
This has been beaten to death on other forums so many times. You can't compare the performance of purpose built AWD race cars to road cars. The test I refer to tested, acceleration, braking and handling through all three conditions, dry, wet and snow. They also tested emergency maneuvering. They also compared the exact same Audis (FWD vs. AWD) The only condition where AWD stood out was snow. The reality is, a RWD passenger car with ASC is going to perform as well as an AWD passenger car in most situations, except snow. I love my AWD cars, but I also recognize that there's a trade off to them and the real benefit is in the snow.

All of the negative Volvo commentary on BARF only drives me forward.
But really... If you can't get sideways, why even drive at all? And why drive in a car that makes it even harder to get sideways?!

If you aren't doing this on your commute EVERY single fucking day, you have failed as a human being.
Disclaimer: I do miss driving our family's old WRX, but that thing never wanted to misbehave... It only wanted to GO. And I do enjoy misbehaving.
Was just reading that thread on the TB forumsFor those of you interested...

Moves in a hurry, doesn't it?
i find this far less compellilng than what you posted in charlesR's thread..
now tell me, for those of us that don't want to pay off a smog shop, what's the best 1975 and older volvo WAGON to stuff a chebby v8 into?

:If you go STi or Evo, you're going to spend a a ton on insurance.
But look at the driver! Do you see that??? Pure unbridled joy! A happiness which none of us have seen since childhood, having lived too long in this world that pushes us daily toward an existence of cynicism and defeat!

I might have a little.
If you can stand the looks of the current gen TL (2009+), our SH-AWD system has been super super reliable.
Because of its torque vectoring operation it's really more for performance/fun driving than it is for getting unstuck from snow/mud.
friggen Honda
Wait till you see the new SH-AWD setup we've got coming out in a few months debuting on the Acura RLX Sport Hybrid. No more prop shaft. Rear differential powered by twin electric motors. They can even vector reverse torque now.
Errrr what does that mean exactly?
