Disagree. I think it's just another playing style, as "valid" (we are talking about video games, we should keep in mind, haha) as any other style.
A friend of mine is a seriously good player, K/D around 2.0 great aim, but enjoys camping versus run/gun.
Again, how is "sniping" somehow OK, but not camping?

Don't sweat it dude... I'd be willing to bet a certain person is either exagerating or not as good as they think they are. Either that or he has the top of the line internet thats allows him to already be shooting 2-3 rounds when the target guy with slow internet is just now seeing him.
As far as sniping vs hard campers vs soft camping. like I said before i only consider a person a camper if they are crouching in a corner where they cant see anything farther than 10 feet and they are just watching a corner or doorway. A soft camper that is strategically positioned to do damage to the other team at a choke point is just being smart, not camping. Real sniping is using a sniper rifle the proper way that it was ment to be used. Finding cover and holding down an area, aiming through the scope and scaning for targets. I think the quick scopers are worse than a hard camper. They found a loophole that allows them to run around with a one shot kill weapon and if they aim anywhere in the general direction of a target it gives them a hit. I've seen so many kills that were not on target but yet still got the kill. Almost as bad as getting knifed from 15 feet away while you are blasting them with a 12 gauge.

Agreed, and I like your take on "soft" camping. It really is about choke points, why would you NOT use them to your advantage?

Maybe we have different definitions of camping. When I used to play CoD sometimes I would camp out a single room, but that meant covering all angles, shooting at different distances, and avoiding people whose attention I was drawing. When I say "camping" I'm talking about those dudes who hide in the corner, wait for you to run by, shoot you, then get shot by someone else. Terrible strategy, and they never seem to have more than a 1 KDR (and often less).
If you aren't moving, you are camping. Period.

OK, got it, so basically, angelsndevils' "soft" v. "hard" camping.
My friends and I very much enjoy what we are terming "soft" camping, which is to stake out a chokepoint or room that has tactical value, shoot out the windows, bouncing betty/IED the doors
teeth), etc. We are all mic'd up with nice headphones, so we hear footsteps, communicate, etc.And soon, my K/D will be 1! Haha...(it was like 1.7 in BO2, but I got off to a shit start in Ghosts).

HAHA exactly. One of the joys of camping is hearing the complaining, and then she sore loserness that occurs in the lobby.
But first somebody toobed you with a skillful shot. Bow down! Toobin' ain't easy, got to aim higher to account for windage.
It's funny how people running the lightweight rushing loadout with an SMG or pistol thinks they are good because their loadout allows them to run faster, aim faster, shoot faster. So if you meet them coming 'round a corner, their lightweight loadout is going to get the kill most every time. "Damn I'm good" they claim. Uh, no you're not, you simply chose a loadout that allows you to aim faster than most and you can move twice as damn fast as someone not running a lightweight loadout. Huge equipment advantage.
So when somebody kills you with a slow-moving toob assault rifle loadout, don't be crying over the taste of being killed by a different loadout that has a distance and detonation area advantage.

Tanks are nice. But that fucking boat is so ridiculous. 25mm burst and tv missles with one other guy to work the side miniguns and repair is pretty god damned unstoppable.
