VW "Clean" Diesel not really clean

Well, reason for that is because its run by people who can't make it in the real world.
failure on all counts in the financial or engineering world. these are the ones that can't invent to save their live and have to "test" other companies.

its whoever pays the most get the expected testing result. been like that forever and will never change. just under the cover of clean environment.

who really cares about NOx, until 5 days ago the majority in the sink never heard about that term and all of a sudden people are experts in emission after treatment:laughing

Translation, your selfish interests take priority over the health of your kids and grandkids. Gotcha. :thumbup

BTW, plenty of people here already knew about NOx, you're not educating us.

You one of those ghey "coal rollers"?

Although, selfish may not be the right description. When someone throws around "people who can't make it in the real world", "failure on all counts in the financial or engineering world", "can't invent to save their live [sic] and have to 'test' other companies", "whoever pays the most get [sic] the expected testing result", "who really cares about NOx", "until 5 days ago the majority in the sink never heard about that term", it's clearly a hint there's a nefarious agenda in the works. Selfish would be if he had a personal gain out of it, like if he's the owner of a hydrocarbon business. And it's fair to assume he isn't, a shareholder at best. It's all "conservative" smack talk.

And this future tense talk of kids and grandkids ought to stop. Even childless old farts like me are feeling and will feel the consequences of unabridged, unfettered use of the natural resources. The "when" is now.

But back to the VW fiasco...

"Selfish" meaning "I enjoy certain hobbies like modifying my diesels, riding 2-stroke bikes on the street, removing my catalytic converter, or burning my garbage for fun", etc.

I've also noticed that threads like these get posts like "This thread has encouraged me to roll some coal" which would make sense if the average BARF'er was 22, but it's more like 40-45, so WTF. :wtf

For as long as the EPA is the unfunded "evil job/business killing machine", there's very, very little the EPA can do.

Huh? The whole reason this is even happened is because of carb and the epa, now they'll only press for stricter regulations and testing wether it's actually needed or not

Dealers arent touching them until VW comes out with they solution/fix.

Evidently, they've already tried twice to implement a fix quietly and failed both times. The fix is going to be buying back a huge number of cars at a staggering cost to VW. Honestly, VW would be smart to just cave now, offer a buyback to every owner and at least save on the massive legal fees they're going to incur if they try to fight this. VW is facing investigations and lawsuits in dozens of countries. The administration costs alone will run into the hundreds of millions of dollars, and they'll still likely lose anyway. They should bite the bullet now.

Rumor is there is also a potential for a class action suit by U.S. VW dealers claiming damage to their businesses…

Oh yeah, and the shareholders are suing as well. They're going to be looking to get paid for the $30 billion in lost market cap.

Oh, got it. Your quotes were indicating cynicism, and clown master here missed it entirely. :thumbup

oh Reli, we know you're mother Teresa of barf. of course you had to feel offended, my apologies. please tell me when did try to educate anyone?

well, we could list our personal carbon footprint and talk for hours who showers the least amount. i can say my lifestyle is somewhat modest, environment friendly, my vehicle doesn't roll coal and idles 24/7 for an ice cold A/C:teeth

for my part i go to work every day and do stuff to make our future sustainable, yet comfortable.

you talk a lot, but yet ride a bike that emits between 2-10% of unburnt fuel on daily bases. we all do and its not an necessity to survive. we do it for fun and pleasure ourself, but neither feels bad when they walk to the garage with 3 bikes, 2 cars and a fu... gas powered grass mower.

fu.... people are obese to the point that they can't see their dick and still too lazy to clean their yard just by physical labor. same wankers go off because the industry tricked them out:rofl

Sub'd because this snafu is too much to pass.

August, wishing you the best!

False alarm. The smog notice was for another car due at the same time as the vw. I remembered the vw one as odd when I first opened it and incorrectly remembered it as a smog requirement but it was only because it only had a renew by mail option, not online.

Vw tdi reg was renewed until 2016.

Closely watching the fiasco and pissed I own a leper.

The fine is 37,500 per vehicle on the road in the US.

There's a really nice graphic explanation of the process VW used in that article. It's interesting that they were using fuel dosing as the reducdant process with the NO trap. The aftermarket company I worked with for a few years awhile ago was doing that for the retrofit market and people thought it was crazy. But it actually works...when you don't shut off the fuel supply to it. :laughing

There are two parts of this.

Punishment

Resolution

I think the punishment should be harsh. The execs involved should be stripped of assets and left with enough to subsist.

The resolution is levying the maximum fines possible. All cars should be bought back. The remaining $s after administration should be used to fund renewable energy in areas that coal is used to make power.

Neither will happen, not even by a thousand miles.

Fuel consumption tests are faulty?! Who would've thought? :rolleyes

NOBODY owns a car that has an "accurate" fuel consumption test. It's flat out impossible to make the conditions the same at all times.

Agreed, but, but, but ... the burden is on the company making the claim.
