Warriors 16-17 Season

Is this directed at me?

.

Although you might be co-conspirator of sorts, not really. I was actually inspired to write regarding another kind of post that negates their wins because the team they beat has a losing record. Or that, how could they be tired when they didn't play winning record teams?

But I did enjoy your vigorous protest too much!:laughing

I know where you stand, including your slippery "well, I didn't really watch until..." methodology.

If I was a Cavs fan, I'd probably be bothered by all this darn Warriors talk on this uh...Warriors thread.

Feel free to do an NBA general thread similar to NFL one. It might be less annoying than all this Dub talk. I started the thread because I am focused on this team, similar to our teevee drama threads etc etc. But there certainly are plenty of great players and other teams to jaw about.

PS JohnDicex, that's gotta be one-liner/post maybe of the year!!!! Nicely done.

Last score I saw had the Cavs down by 13 with 2 mins to go....

It's irritating to see the following:

Poster X makes some snarky comment about how the Warriors barely won to show how much more objective they are. This is all based on some fictional meme that all of us Warrior fans think our team is going to win every game easy.

You really don't know the difference between an 'X' and a 'Z'? It's just basic alphabet. :laughing

I'm a huge Warriors fan. I HATE the idea that 'our wonderful team can do no wrong.' That shit is vomitus. Don't be vomitus. Call it like you see it, and don't be biased.

Last year was a fun regular season. But as we learned last year, don't get excited about all these worthless regular season games. Save the spirit for the playoffs.

Who in hell ever said they can do no wrong? That's what I mean about creating some kind of false opponent so you can disagree with him. I hate to say it, but it's just kind of trollishness.

Regular season games are fun to watch, not worthless. To me, they seem to be focused on building the final playoff team. That's why the record was probably a distraction last year...

I will forever think the Warriors were robbed by the refs last year. You just DO NOT force an All-Star player to sit out a game in the MF'ing NBA Finals because he plays with passion. FU NBA. That shit was rigged more than a sailboat. :x

The record didn't seem like a distraction, because they were fighting San Antonio right to the end for the home court advantage.

I'm with Barkley about these new different Warriors. In a 7-game series, the weaker defense and weaker bench are hurdles they must overcome. Which of course I hope they DO overcome. By gelling more as the season goes on. So many new faces.

Because this team rocks. Thanks, team brass. :thumbup

This thread is WARRIORS GROUND!!!!

:teeth

I'm going to start a "Cavs 2016-17" thread now so us Warriors fans have a place to rip the cavs.

Warriors have a chance to break the 1980's Showtime Lakers for most assists in a season.

Thats one thing that I thought about "worthless" reg season games comment. When I see one of those spectacular passing combo plays, I feel validated for sitting down to watch. And they happen frequently enough. I find them super-entertaining.

I don't get that regular season is worthless. Yeah the warriors didn't win a ring last year to cap off a historic season... but we witnessed absolutely great and fun basketball like some of us have never seen before.

You really gonna watch Warriors games vs the hapless Sixers, Mavs, Heat, Nets, Pelicans, Suns, Lakers, Kings, Nuggest or T-Wolves this year? :p

Absolutely. They are a joy to watch. I'm a total homer but these guys still look like buddies playing ball and having fun. They make me want to play, and I have!

Hell yeah I'm watching those games. (I've watched every game since they fired the only man who can slow down Steph Curry, Mark Jackson.) The "lesser" teams often step up and give the Ws better games than the "elite" teams. Remember the Nets and Sixers games last year? T-Wolves this year? Compare to any of the games versus the Clippers over the last two seasons.

You never know, you might miss Curry set a record, or Thompson set a record. Or miss Anthony Davis get blocked by KD and stripped by Draymond.

I watched (I DVR) every game last year and I intend to do the same this year. I love the way they play. Call me a fanboy, it's okay. It's certainly salve for my Niners wound. It's really not bs to say that a crappy ownership of a sports franchise dminishes enthusiasm for a given sport. I'm barely watchin football anymore. And that the reverse is true. Watching Warriors games at home is like being at the party, even if its just me and the teevee. I admit, last night was pretty lackluster but as noted above, Draymond has yet to disappoint me in terms of getting up for the opponent. Shut down that Kristaps guy....

Agree! Girlfriend wants to go to a Niner game 'cuz it would be fun' and I refuse. Be a pain in the ass to get there from the east bay and I can't support them financially based on how they've operated the team and screwed their fans. It's pretty embarrassing really considering the Niners were never a flashy stadium look at me team. Always been about the product on the field and players. Minus the Harbaugh years, it seems it was more about the front office and Jed making a name for himself.

Look how Mark Cuban turned the mavericks around, won a ring few years ago too.

I heard one interesting thing yesterday on KNBR about trying to make owners more tied to their crappy team record. Namely to take away any national broadcasts, like SNF, MNF or TNF. With profit sharing, I don't know how that makes a difference but there must be some financial impact. This was being discussed by Mr T and Steve Young...

That York has the fourth most profitable team and 58 million unused budget under the cap tells us all the obvious: he wants to make money more than provide quality football. Screw him. He'd still make buckets of money and have a better team if he used that portion. Sorry good players have to be caught in the crossfire. I read this morning that Frank Gore is really bummed about the franchise tho no longer a part of it.

Remember harrison barnes hitting the clutch go ahead/dagger 3 last year against the 6ers in that tie game? That was a fun game. And nw with embiid the 76ers are even more fun to watch.

The mavs, nets, and nuggets, and heat are all okay teams with potential to give a good run.

We saw what the pelicans can do the other night. The suns are a great young team that gave the warriors trouble in both meetings this year. Lakers are fun to watch when they have their whole squad, especially with luke at the throne. Kings, well, DMC is arguably the best center in the league and fun to watch. The T-wolves are exciting young freakishly atheltic group... and watching KAT move like a 6'3 guard is nuts.

All these teams whether they are contenders or not are usually a joy to watch, and they always bring their A game against the warriors because they know they have to.

I think the Rockets are actually a bigger threat right now, D'antoni has them playing a Warriors style of ball, you know, the style that the W's got from from watching phoenix when D'antoni was coach and made Nash an MVP of the league, twice, and made possible Jeremy Lin's magical run with the Knicks a few years back. He's turned Harden into a more effective weapon on the court.
