Warriors 16-17 Season

Watched the pre-season finale last night.

They just don't have the formula yet of how to integrate KD in, even though they are scoring. It's gonna be an interesting season. There was a kind of mode they were working for the last two years that became very familiar with their set ups leading to shots. I don't see it, yet. Don't know why Klay was so cold last night, but it feels like a disturbance of the Force at this point, offensively. A lot of good stuff did happen, but...

We all have to calm hell down with this KD fitting in nonsense. He'll be fine. He played all summer with Draymond and Klay, has only played a month of preseason with the entire team. Ain't gonna be showtime Lakers immediately. Not ever in the history of basketball has a preseason been so watched and scrutinized.

Their starting 5 will be Curry, Klay, Draymond, Durrant, Zaza. What other starting 5 has that scoring potential? They aren't a big team but they shoot 45% from three. No team can trade 2pt baskets. The warriors 3pt shot attempts and percentage made makes them a very very efficient team.

Time will tell but myself after preseason, am not concerned.

Don't forgot mainstays like Iggy and Shawn Livingston are still there and will log 15 min a game or more. Ian Clark has improved. Maccaw is a off the bench passer, defender. Damian Jone is supposed to be better than Ezeli (once healthy). David West is a passer and can hit a 12-15ft all day long.

I do have reservations about big teams like Pistons or a team with a point guard that drives like Westbrook BUT if the make stops and hit 3s and their normal rate, 2s can't compete with 3s.

Wrong-o, this is a real problem that has yet to be solved. Can Durant fit in with the Warriors type of play? We don't know yet.

I don't think it's going to be an easy transition, the previous Kerr Warriors of 2014-2016 are gone now, this is a much different team with much different chemistry for 2017.

Which is not news to any NBA fan who's followed this sport for a long time. You can't just move players around and think it's instant success. Takes time to relearn what you already know, and you lose games as you learn.

Pretty much. Like I said, watching a Warriors game last year had a very familiar and consistent feel in offense. They set up shot after shot. There is no reason they can't find a new way to do the same thing, but there is no reason to think it will happen easily and soon. I'm pretty sure they'll make the playoffs though...But there is enough unfamiliarity for competing teams to wedge a foot in the door as they develop a new feel.

Every shot, dunk, or just crap possession by harrison barnes is now in the hands of KD. I think he'll be just fine. Preseason has shown he can already fit in the starting lineup. The last blazers game had almost a playoff like intensity (compared to reg preseason) and KD fit in just fine.

If we don't know then how can it possibly be a definite problem?? Bunch of assumptions being made by some arm chair quarterbacks that like drama.

Defense is my only concern as that's what Barnes, Ezeli and Bogut brought. But my feeling is Ron adams who was with KD I. Seattle will instill a more defensive mindset in him and they'll simply out score majority of teams.

What team is going to double cover someone? Double any starter and it leaves a historically high accurate shooter open.

I guess I'm just one not to freak out and assume the worse like you guys are by watching highlights of pre season games.

In the words of Aaron Rodgers - R e l a x. Watch a few meaningful games and then post sky is falling predictions.

It's basic logic, when you change a pro sports team's roster drastically, it takes time for all the new pieces to fit together.

You remember LeBron's first year in Miami? All those superstars, and they floundered with a 9-8 record to start the season.

But guess what? They still made it to the NBA Finals that year. :teeth

All those?? It was Bosh, Dwade, Lebron and roll players.

Warriors have 4 all stars as starters, two of them are hall of fame locks and likely three.

Celtics also pieced their team together in one season and won.

It's not like the Heat or Celtics, it's better. They have a big 4 and they shoot at historically high rates AND some rapport has been established with Klay, KD and draining playing on team USA this summer.

Spurs looking good.

Klay not looking good.

KD looking like a superstar.

Down 18 at the half against Suns, Nets, Jazz, no problem. Against Spurs? Problem.

:Barf

I'm taking what Reggie Miller said, 'Spurs aren't this good and warriors aren't this bad".

Hope the Warriors bench is this bad. Only game 1....only game 1

Hi Dubbington. :laughing

Warriors don't have a bench and they can't seem to rebound...they're still good but they're going to have some growing pains.

They gel by All Star break. :laughing

That's what we can hope for. The defense is obviously (to me not other Warriors fans for reason I don't understand) going to be suspect without Barnes, Bogut and Ezeli. And Iggy is almost 33 yrs old, with lots of stress-filled playoff minutes the past two years so he's gotta be feeling worn down.

With so many new players, nothing flows naturally yet. Everyone is tentative, not quite knowing their role. Things will improve over time, Kerr will guide this ship.

The camera shot of Jayzee and Beyonce and Lacob was priceless. He was mortified and wincing and they were "shying" away from him. The royalty was not amused.

Oh well.

I will continue to try and put it in context from last year. Periodically, the Dubs would take a dump and just really lose bad and this reminded me of those games. they just didn't look ready and the Spurs looked like the Spurs always do. Ready to go, disciplined etc etc.

Spurs looked like they were treating this game as a playoff game. Warriors did not.

No trends after 1 game BUT the free throw disparity cannot be an issue all season. Warriors need to get to the line. Durant will probably have the most free throws during the season, he drives more.

I still cringe when Curry drives to the rim.

Draymond has a short leash, refs not giving him anything, gonna get 82 technical fouls :teeth

The rotations will be interesting. Last year we could count on the defense to clamp down for a 3-5 minute stretch. Barnes couldnt shoot but he could defend.

Or they just underestimated the Spurs without Duncan now? Don't know why they would in the first place since the Spurs are coached by one of the greatest coaches in NBA history.
