Warriors 16-17 Season

Speaking of aging Cavs stars...

Going to sound crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lebron moves on from Cleveland after this year and settles into a retirement gig on some team with a few friends. I'd hold no ill will against him for doing so, either. Brought a 'ship to his home town, and that's all anyone could ever ask for after the Cleveland drought.

I couldn't help but hang around for the post-game and watch reactions.

To see Pop talk about his team not being "in it" was just weird. There must be something to spend so very much time with your team, be a celebrated champion of a coach, then have such a emotional disconnect like that. It's the Conference Finals. How can they not get up for it? Weird.

Not that the Warriors do everything Kerr wants, like when they haven't "kept it simple" at times and done some showboatin' passing. Just sayin to be fair.

I think when I keyed that, the W's were up by 38.... :p

... and the Warriors picked Chris Washburn and his stolen stereos at #3. :laughing

Seriously, that '86 draft was cursed.
That was a turning point for the Celtics, Bias would have been a strong force for them to be a major force again, instead they dropped into obscurity of a long time as a result of his death. Definitely a major blow to them.

TBH, they played in the '87 Finals (lost to lakers) and the '88 Eastern Conference Finals (lost to Pistons) before age and Bird's herniated disc in his back caught up with them. Bias would have been a solid player to bridge to the future, but at that time the future was the Bad Boys in Detroit and the Jordan-aires in Chicago. (That was 8 championships in 10 years by both teams, with the other 2 going to the Rockets.)

I think the other tough one the Celtics got hammered with was Reggie Lewis as he was just starting to put his stamp on the team in the post-Bird/McHale/Parish era.

Yeah, they could see that Bird's long run was coming to a close and they traded Gerald Henderson to Sonics to get Len Bias, so it wasn't just losing him, when he died they had lost more than just him. Tough blow for possibly one of the smartest back offices in the NBA.

Prediction for game #2 tonight, Cavs vs Celtics?

Another lopsided win?

I'm hoping hoping hoping Celtics figure something out. They didn't rebound well. I think they should let Lebron score as much as he wants but focus on cutting off his passing and teammates more. Maybe that will slow down the Cavs scoring. Problem is the Celtics were cold from 3 and Isaiah and Avery Bradley aren't enough scoring threats. Al Horford can't get rebounds against Tristan Thompson.

Theres nothing to figure out about lebron unfortunately. The dude is a god. I could see the celtics getting swept

the way that the Cavs were running their offense vs Boston (lebron iso, everybody back off and get out of the way) is shit basketball IMO, but damn he made it look easy.

I only saw part of the last game but the Celtics just looked intimidated as hell. Isaiah's shots hit the front of the rim fercrynoutloud, like he wasn't even shooting them with conviction. For the sake of everyone, I hope they dig deep and find something that got them to where they are.

Wtf y no game 3 today?????

NBA season plays out like an NBA game. Good action, then the closer to the end you get, the more annoying stoppages occur and the thing just ends up dragging on.

There shouldn't be more than 2 days in between games, IMO. It dampens the excitement for the whole thing. Like, oh, crap, this series is still going on?

I was surprised to see them run Lebron ball for a while, too.... But on the other hand, if it's working, then you get out way and let it work while the working is hot.

Watching Thomas try to guard Lebron was funny.

I think Boston will have more fuel in the fire tonight. Of course, I still hope the Cavs crush them.

.

yep, he was crushing anyone guarding him and so why not keep doing it?

seriously

being up 30 points and loosing game 1

loosing by 30 points in game 2

this series is a shellacking, fine put it up on prime time, just to watch all the fans start leaving the stadium in 3rd qtr............... AGAIN :party

I hope LeBron gets hurt :twofinger

... and if that happens to the Cavs and they lose you'll hear another year of "But... but... but..."! I say NO! Keep him healthy.

If it does come down to a third year of the same 2 teams meeting (never happened in NBA history), I want both teams rested, ready, and healthy. No f'n excuses either way.

Warrior haters already using injuries for Leonard and Nircic (blazers big man), George Hill as excuses.
