What is the fastest vs slowest street legal motorcycle you have owned?

Fastest: Tie between 2004 ST1300 and 2020 Africa Twin about 130
Slowest: ATC 70 3 wheeler who knows? no speedo maybe 20mph But it really is more about acceleration,2 stroke acceleration! 1969 Kawasaki 500, Yamaha RD350, Honda CR500 were way more fun and barely broke 100mph if at all

Slowest had to be my Trail 90

The fastest would definitely be my 1090

slowest was a yamaha 400, had some fast hondas and BMW's, but the fastest is probably the 999 or S4RS (same engine, one faired, the other naked). although the multi and motard have bigger engines and similar pedigree, so they may be faster - never looked it up (beyond a certain point faster becomes almost irrelevant lol).

so just looked it up - it's the motard. 176 v. 172 for the 999. wouldn't have guessed that.

Fastest bike vs slowest bike

Slowest:
Kawi ex500 (also funniest bike).

Fastest:
2007 GSXR-1000
2012 Ducati Diavel Carbon Red :afm199

Had an aprilia RS50 and a Yamaha R1. The two couldn't be further apart speed/power wise. Guess which one I found to be more fun...

Back in the 80s I had a BMW K100RS and tapped out on Highway 25 at 145 mph indicated and a buddy blew by me on a Suzuki 1000 like I was standing still. Every bike since then I've never tried to find top end or care.

Same, top speed means nothing to me, but nice to know it’s there.

depends on when you all old farts came into the game stage...

responding to the very first post -
i never had a slow bike, but the slowest was cbr600 f4i, the fastest '23 s1rr (hey, i get to brag)

Not only when but perhaps where…

Back in my home country, Yamaha DT125 and Yamaha RX115 (I owned both models) were amongst fastest bikes in the market. A 400cc or 500cc is today still considered a “Big Bike” and not anyone can afford even a second hand one.

Someone asked how fast I have been today. Non Moto person.

I said a bit over 180.

They went OMG were you scared??!!!!!

Nope. Aware. In the best place a human can be.

100% in the moment.

Love that about riding. Lots of those.

fastest i've ever been on a bike was 156 indicated (in a very inappropriate place). was riding pillion, looked around my dudes shoulder to check the speedo, and started pounding on his thigh (he knows goddamned well what that means). he's swatting me away at speed. we got into a fist-fight afterwards.

180 on the street?

I can't think of anywhere around here within and hour's ride where I'd even try 150.

I think my current and one and only bike tops out around 125 which is plenty for me.

I think I've been over 120 only a handful of times over the years.

I think if I lvied in AZ or similar it would be far more than that though.

Yes.. on the street but in the middle of now where on HWY 58. Not our normal Nevada prooving grounds. :laughing

Yeah a bit nuts.. but every number below that is still nuts if you are on a motorcycle to some folks.

Good point. 140 on the straight of a racetrack feels like almost nothing. 140 on the street, even an open highway feels sketchy to me.

Clocked a buck seventy on 101 through Santa Rosa and caught up to traffic much faster than anticipated.
