What is the fastest vs slowest street legal motorcycle you have owned?

Never mind the jackrabbits and whatnot!

I saw a jack rabbit sliced in 1/2 by a bike going 130mph in a race. I was :wow and when I asked the rider about it he said "What rabbit?" :laughing

It was at night (dark) and the rider was in a long curve. The rabbit bolted from the side like a suicide squirrel. Animals are certainly worth being scared of for sure.

Clocked a buck seventy on 101 through Santa Rosa and caught up to traffic much faster than anticipated.

<-----Not a role model.

Not a great spot for 100 let alone 170.

Unless it was in the wee hours.

not quite morning commute traffic but still way too much for that kind of idiocy.

Tellin ya, I cannot own fast vehicles.

Natural evolution of thread to now: how fast is the fastest you've gone? Love it!

On a racebike, that I can recall: mid 170's/ low 180's @ the AFM race we did over a decade ago at Buttonwillow backwards. We ran the entire back straight from the S's into Riverside reverse. I was on an Arclight GSX-R750 and would top out in 6th right before grabbing light braking and back shifting twice as we roiled into Riverside. The 750 had around 154 HP or so and IIRC, the super bike guys were radar'd getting into the corner around 185 or something like that. They'd gap me about two bike lengths or so in practice, so...somewhere around there.

My CTS-V: aired the tires up and did a run on the way "somewhere" a few years ago. That was faster...won't say exactly, but more the 180 above. That car is absolutely amazing at high speeds. Since then, a few blasts to 160 or so, but short and not super eventful.

LEGITY!

Long as his eyes were up, NBD.

Long as his eyes were up, NBD.

Several time/year some idiot tries and cross 101 here and gets hit and killed.

So far haven't read of a moto being the vehicle though.

Not where I'd choose to go 100 let alone more than that.

Stretch of Highway 101 in Santa Rosa remains among Bay Area’s most congested freeway segments.

For the second year in a row, the roughly 4-mile stretch through Santa Rosa ranked among the top most congested freeway segments in the Bay Area.

Yea, but it was years ago. Kev's still here with us, just fine. Aside from typical BARF castigation, why are we supposed to pillory him?

We're talking about doing triple digits, of which most have done on public roads and are still here to talk about it (and old...we're all fucking old now). So.....we made it. Hooray! ???

Even if assured the coast is clear of coppers animals coming out of nowhere is half the reason I don’t let her rip.
I’ve had bikes capable of 160 or more but never saw more than an indicated 145 or thereabouts and with speedo error that may have been an actual 130.
Don’t tell Lou but that was without a steering damper.

That guy's got a Vette like yours! You guys should hook up and do one of those low and slow drives....

KLR
Fastest on the street, Hwy 58, CBR1000
Fastest on the track a hopped up first gen GSXR1100 at the old Texas World Speedway, 20 years older but displacement!
I’ve wanted to take the CBR to Road America to get past 150 but my reaction time is not what it used to be.
Modern IMU sounds better than a Can-Am.:twofinger

A friend hit a smalll bird while we were doing high speed runs in the middle of nowhere but didn’t realize it. When we all took a break I saw something hanging from his leathers , it was the carcass just obliterated.
There was blood all over his seat and tank.
Amazing he didn’t feel it.

Hit a few birds, big and small, a few squirrels, had a deer jump clean over me once.
I think it comes with the territory if you ride .
Fortunately I have only been hit by larger animals while on four wheels.
Holeshot, you are not old..lol

a few years back, averaged 137mph between elko, nv and salt lake city in a vette. that thing was stupid fast, but gotta say, was also civilized at speed much less than that. howler, my current brat, is manageable at low speed, but doesn't even begin to feel solid until 100, and confidence increases exponentially for every 10+ after that. ~160 is where you begin to feel invincible.

Slowest: 1999 KLR650 - it could probably do 80, but that wasn't a fun speed on that bike

Fastest: 2001 Triumph Sprint ST - I got to 135 several years ago before chickening out, but I suspect it could go faster. I still have it and it will easily do 125 without too much effort. Allegedly, of course - CLEARLY I would never ride that fast on the streets.

I didn't OWN a Honda Super Blackbird, but I rode one at the highest speed I could handle - over 150 in the high desert of Oregon and it was still pulling hard. Terrifying.

Slowest was my first bike, Suzuki 185.

Fastest was my Duc S2R; although it wasn’t as bonkers as my Husky 450SMR. Sadly the Husky doesn’t qualify for this thread as it was a factory prepped race bike.
