What? No head tap?

Maybe I'm the only one but when some squids are coming up the hill I give a big thumbs up cop or no cop, it's not my fault if they want to go a buck fifty on my road! Seriously though I just wave, they can ride their bikes at any speed they choose. If you want to play you have to pay.

Thanx, Russ

From that we can assume you also park yer Prius in tha fast lane doin' 55, cuz' you are empowered to control everyone elses speed.........

May the Kharma gods feed you a lunch of pavement and armaco.......:twofinger

Semper Fi! :thumbup

No dude, I'm just out for a ride, I'm not on the cop watch committee. Your right hand can set any speed you want. Be safe my friend.

Thanx, Russ

Gabe and Kornholio should investigate the DMV Handbook to see the rules, rituals, and minimum size required for a head-tap.

They're both Ducati riders. Ofcourse they wont. We Ducati riders are all stuck up beechs

- speeding
- ran a stop sign
- NO plate,
- no turn signals
- and various other tag-able offenses

and it's the other riders fault for not tapping...

What makes you think you even deserve a courteous helmet tap when your just ASKING to be pulled over with those violations.:rolleyes

Stop crying. I ride with no plate simply because I don't want to drill my undertail. Call me stupid if you want but it's only a fix it ticket. Hardly the end of the world...

Now get back to your lecture of how you're a more responsible rider than everyone in the world. pshhh please.......

Gee ladies, must've gotten you at a bad time of the month..... I wasn't looking for a head tap because of my lack of plates (and that's NOT why I got pulled over, I rolled thru a stop) and I'm not expecting ANYONE to take responsibility for what I do, but it's a common (I THOUGHT!) courtesy to give a heads up when the police are hiding. By the way, how many of you have a plate stuffed waaaaay under yer tail section, that can only be read by sticking yer head next to the back tire? As "brown" stated, the grey hair tends to chill the agro attitude when I get pulled over, and I have yet (in the past few years) to get tagged for lack of plate, there are pleant of dick LEO's out there for sure, but you usually get the attitude you give, and being courteous (but not brown nose) will go a long way, (as does a valid license, reg, insurance and some grey hair!)

Semper Fi! :thumbup

Dood.... c'mon... why drag teh wimminz into this? I give the head tap! :twofinger

I prefer to give head taps to the riders following directly behind a cop.

:rofl That's messed up... but I like it.... :thumbup

you guys are slow today!

must've been squids

man this is such a :barf thread :laughing

4 pity's sake, cut the guy some slack, he had to deal with da man...

Wow, can't believe everyone is blasting OP. He wasn't blaming people for his own choice to speed (or roll through stop signs) - he was just commenting on the apparent decline of what I too thought was common courtesy btw riders in the hills. He takes responsibility for his own choices, but nonetheless would expect a heads up if it is easy for another rider to do so.

And no, I don't expect you to tap or pull out a sign mid-apex just for my dumb ass. But if you are cruising on a straight, pass an LEO, give your fellow riders a heads up! You might be glad someone did the same for you one weekend. Even at a very moderate pace, we are all generally breaking the speed lmit on those backcountry roads. We are all out there for more or less the same reasons - let's not be dickknockers to each other. We already have cell-phone-talking-minivan-moms to worry about already.

It could have been retribution, because he failed to give that same rider a heads up, in the past. The OP doesn't come across as a reliable head tapper to me. :x

Well if he keeps getting pulled over at least it'll keep the cops busy while I ride by.:rofl

This debate is still going..?

Look folks. OP has a point in that a head tap would be nice from other riders if there's cops up ahead. We as riders should be looking out for each other and pass on the good karma and warn each other of speed traps, accidents or road hazards down the road. Is it mandatory? No. Is it good to spread some good biker vibe to others? Yes.

If we don't look out for each other. Then who will? The cagers don't understand us. The cops are trying make money for our broke state and city governments. And the cyclists want the road all to themselves...

Stop making excuses about what kind of bike someone else is riding and help the brother/sister out. But on the same token. Don't be a retard and go riding around like a jack-ass without all of your required documentation and safety equipment. And then expect others to have sympathy for you when you get busted. Just be cool and ride safe... :ride

I :love a woman who can tap some head. :p

:teeth

:hand Hey Mister... just get the hell out of here with your logic and good sense! :x

Riding Griz peak sunday AM, left The Wall about 11:15 heading down towards 24, I pass 3 sportbikes (all separated by a few hundred yards) and NONE of them gave a "Tap" to show there was a fookin LEO a few turns further down. WHATS UP WITH THAHT? Two of 'em were on Ducs, so maybe they couldn't be bothered with giving a friendly alert.......Bad Kharma ladies, very bad. On a side note, an hour previous to that, I came up on the 4 way stop at, I think it's Wildcat Cyn/Shasta/Grizzly and seeing no cars coming, slowed to about 10 mph and cruised thru. As I was doing it, I looked over my right shoulder and in the parking lot up under the trees was an East Bay Parks cop. I debated for a second, and decided to pull over 200 yds or so up the road. He immediately pulled in next to me and thanked me for stopping. Long story short, even though I was rocking NO plate, turn signals and various other tag-able offenses

I can't wrap my head around this.

When I'm on my bike, the only way I can ride is with in intense concentration, taking in everything that has any bearing on my safe passage.

A cop is just one of the things. I can't isolate a cop from all the other things.
I have to do this observation myself. I have to sort out everything myself. I can't trust anything but myself.

A head tap from another biker would just be nice thing, that I'd acknowlege getting like a nod or a wave, but....I'd be just fine without it as well.

And....I sure wouldn't be out there with equipment missing, just giving a cop a reason to start writting about.

Must be a trip in your world, isolating yourself in the "zone", unaware and uninterested in everyone else around you as you ride your DMV compliant bike, obeying ALL laws and knowing all, comforted by the fact that you and only you are the master of your domain. Remind me to give you a big thumbs up next time I see a cop a few turns before I see you. But then again, can anyone REALLY see you, or are you a superhuman motoninja, prowling the highways and byways in search of plateless steeds to stop? :twofinger

Semper Fi! :thumbup

Fixed.

Who said I obey the laws? :rofl And I definately don't stop plateless steeds (why should I give a big rats ass about someone elses compliance?) I check out others in whether or not they hold lines, before I pass them, but that's just a safety issue, knowing how much space they need.

Your right, it is a trip in my world, it is flat awesome in fact :cool
