World swimming bans transgender women from competing

Trans women are cultural and social women. They are not biological women, and to insist on this as being true is ludicrous. It's also ludicrous to assume that hormones change them somehow into biological women. They are biological males.

. . . but what do the biological women competing against a transgender have to say? I missed it in all the shouting by all the non-participants.

Frankly, the best competitions I've witnessed were all "Run whatcha' ya' brung" events. Billy Jean King and Bobby Riggs changed my perspectives.

Seriously? Many of the women are very unhappy with biological males competing against them.

Women's tennis is entertaining, I'm a big Serena fan. Don't understand why people make a big deal of about that match, Riggs was 55 retired for ~20 years. He also faced the #1-ranked woman player Margaret Smith Court and beat her.

I don't remember if scary cited a source, but he mentioned that a majority of cis female athletes don't give a fuck if trans female athletes are included.

Neither should anyone else. People care about sports way too much.

I didn't see any sources, the ones I found said the opposite.

At first, Thomas’ teammates were silent, which suggested that they did not see an issue of fairness.

But then it was revealed, in a formal letter to UPenn from 16 unidentified teammates, that “We have been told that if we spoke out against her inclusion into women’s competitions, that we would be removed from the team or that we would never get a job offer. When media have tried to reach out to us, these journalists have been told that the coaches and athletes were prohibited from talking to them.”

The teammates actually were not all right with what was happening, but were bullied into silence by UPenn.

That competitors were not speaking up, has little correlation with them, "not giving a fuck".

I think this thread sums it all up. If you vocalize that you're against it, you'll automatically be labeled as transphobic. And that'll end your career and basically kill any future opportunities to gain sponsorships or possibly even compete.

We all know about the tyranny of the majority. But just as tyrannical is the vocal minority.

I assume you are annoyed that the big winning sports teams get invited to the oval office and the POTUS takes time out of his schedule to meet with them?

Does it annoy me? No. Is it unnecessary? Yes.

I did post a source.

Only 24% of women said that trans women have an unfair advantage in sports. So, yea, the majority of women don't think it's unfair and don't care about trans women being allowed to compete. It's mostly just men that want to enforce their worldview.

Well they did point out that how some did not answer honestly for fear of retaliation, and if you read the methodology of the study, it sounds like it was very much not anonymous. They interviewed/surveyed specific people.

Disagree. Team sports in particular are a very important role model for Americans, especially young Americans. They are probably our single greatest vehicle for teaching Americans that competition is what matters and winning is always the goal in everything.

;)

got me to thinking - i didn’t really know the definition of ‘biological sex’. so looked it up. at it’s base ‘unchangeable’ level - it’s chromosomes. and this image popped up. which for some reason made me laugh out loud.

If they really want to be women try getting their ass in the kitchen and make a sandwich.

Indeed, after all pedophiles are people too. I'm sure you would be glad to live next to a few.

*sigh

Was simply making light of the topic. I’m not without sympathy for the inner struggles people deal with.
The process of transitioning from one sex to another is a struggle I couldn’t even imagine and haven’t tried to but I suspect its brutal.
However the thread is about the fairness of how it relates to sport, serious to some but not to all.

Dear lord, the 70's called, they want their cliche trans-are-the-same-as-criminals parallel back.
