Zoom Zoom New Racer School

Specifically, any type of safe passing is permitted in the A group at any of our events. Usually we do ask people to show some restraint by not sucking paint off as they go by, stuffing, slamming the door etc.

In this case, that regular A group politeness request is suspended since we'll have instructors out stuffing and scraping off paint :teeth

Hmmm, I always thought a tinge of red would make my bike look even better. :laughing :laughing

So...4 groups x 20 minutes ???

Nope, A and NRS run at the same time, so 3x20 like normal.

My slow ass will be there in the New Rider School. Looking forward to it.

is anyone going up that weekend willing to help out a newb?

There will literally be a fleet of instructors to help out newbs, along wiht the classroom sessions for the Novice school. You should never feel lost. :)

Ratters got it right. The NRS will be on the track at the same time as the A group. When the NRS students are not on the track, they will be in a classroom.

So 3 groups, 20 minutes each.

Got it, thanks. The days are so short at that point in the calendar it really didn't make a whole lot of sense to do otherwise but if you don't ask for clarification.........

Well, there's no backing out now. I just picked up a spot for the NRS.

Here goes nuthin'!

Do NRS students sit in the classroom for the 40 min between A group sessions?
i don't think so, you'll need time to get some drink and go potty. it's best if you pit right in front of the main building, it will give you more time to do what you got to do before and after each session/classroom

Here's how things generally run:

20 minutes on track
4 minutes being debriefed by ontrack instructor
2 minutes for potty, get drink
30 minutes in class
4 minutes for potty, get drink, meet instuctor

There is a LOT of content to cover. A LOT. If you're late to class on a regular basis then you really could fail.

Our NRS is EXTREMELY stringent. The default grade is FAIL. If you can prove to us during the day that we will feel safe having you in the same race as us then we may grudgingly pass you :laughing

Oh, Art brings up a good point... you should set up your pit as close to the main building as possible. You won't have time to be running back and forth and you want to pit as close to the instructors as possible anyway to maximize the information flow.

Chris, should we bring any materials with us to the school, like notebooks, etc?

Hi Chris,

Do you know if the track will be open on Sat night and/or if anyone will be staying at the track that night?

I was thinking of possibly dropping off the bikes, canopy...etc. Seems safer than the hotel.

Thanks

Chris

I would recommend buying a notebook that you will turn into your racing journal. Keep track of everything from reference points to where you think you can make improvements to tire pressures and suspension settings. Start it right from the beginning.

If you get to the track well before 6 on Saturday, you'll be able to drop your stuff off in the paddock. You'll have to get out by 6 though. I'll be there Saturday evening but will be sleeping in the RV outside the gate.
