2014 Honda CBR1000RR SP

This thing is better in person than I expected. It really is more than the sum of its parts.....I only wish it wouldn't have sold before we even got it out of the crate. At least I get another few days of it in front of my office...:teeth

If you are in the market for a 1000cc sportbile and want something that is different, but not that different...just buy one somewhere if you can find one and afford the pricetag, you'll be happy you did.....

For 17k I'd rather have an RC8 R or something else with more character.

MSRP is going to be $16,699.00..........from what I can tell at this point.

For that kind of money, you can get better bikes with character and performance. Such as:

Panigale 899
RSV4 R and even perhaps a steal on a Factory.
S1000RR

"Better" is a matter of perspecitve....all of the bikes listed are lovely. I'd take the CBR1000RR SP over all of 'em.....maybe a RSVR would make the cut, but this thing is rediculous.

...and keep in mind, we just sold the only one we get for the year, so I am not trying to sell anybody anything.....hahahaha.

Brilliant! :laughing
For that price you might get two of those! My local KTM dealer said they cant get ANY 1190 Adventures($18K) or any more 500exc unless they take a bunch of these "sale-proof" bikes too!(which they wont do) :laughing

A factory custom Honda that will run great, has a good warranty, and will run for years? Are you guys kidding me? You want personality? Get an old Harley.

Hondas are not what they once were.

Performance Bikes put a professional road racer (Michael Rutter) onboard both the CBR1000RR SP and a 2014 ZX10R to set the fastest laps on either bike on the same track and tires.

His fastest lap on the SP was .95s quicker than his fastest lap on the ZX10R.

+1

Ask me how I know. I had a 1995 CBR900RR back in the day. Bulletproof. Not. One. Single. Problem.

Compare/contrast that with the nightmare that was my 2008 CBR1000RR. :|

...Hooli, you know you bought one of the few Honda's to have known issues over the years....they are better now. Someone with your vast experience should have known better than to buy a first year bike :twofinger I keed, I keed.

Like it, hate it, no matter. I'll still bet that if you could be blindfolded while test riding bikes that 8/10 people would choose a CBR1KRR over any other 1K sportbile. It's not as "cool" to own the Honda, but it's still probably the best all-around 1k for mortals....

I just want the guy that bought it to come and pick it up so it stop teasing me outside my office....

From RideApart.com.

It's still amazing that Honda's keeping the Fireblade so analog after all these years and it's competitors throwing electronic aids in their bikes, but in some ways, I can actually appreciate that.

For an analog superbike though, I think it looks proper. I'm a big fan of brushed aluminum finishes on the chassis.

Sweet bike! :thumbup

:wtf

Sorry but I think its a straight-up gyp that thing doesn't come with ABS, TC and a Mechatronic rear shock for $17K.
Still a nice bike tho...
