2019 Honda Super Cub

Is there anyone out there that has installed passenger footpegs into the original mounting holes that appear to have been welded closed?

Good question. I might just try drilling and tapping in new threads. With my luck though, the plugs will be super harden steel, tougher than my drill bits.

Super cub pegs

Yes, I did drill and tap for the new Kawasaki pegs.

new C125 experiences so far

I'm new to BARF; this is my first post...

I own the new 2019 model. Have had it about 4 months now. Really love the little thing. Ride it to work mostly, and around town on weekends. It's still in the break-in period as I rotate with my other bikes on my commute. Have about 350 miles on it so far. Getting little over 100mpg but the low fuel indicator starts blinking at around 75-80 miles for me and I end up adding like 0.7 gal.

I did not get on a waiting list, and had to call around to 9 or 10 different shops in Northern Calif to find one. Most dealers just laughed and told me I wouldn't get one this year if I didn't pre-order already. A few told me Honda only importing 500 this year, and most dealers only got 1 or 2 and likely wouldn't be getting more this year. (but they had plenty of new Monkeys)
I just got lucky and found one in the Bay Area that hadn't been snapped up yet. Paid full retail but no extra markup.

When I trucked it home, my garage was too full with other bikes and crap to fit the little SuperCub. Thankfully my wife is super supportive and for two weeks it was in my main living room in the house...like an art piece.

I'm a big dude (250 lb but working on it). So I'm over the spec weight limit without even any gear or luggage. I do notice at higher speed over some road bumps I'm pushing the suspension pretty good. Boing boing.
But have got it up to 55+ on flat roads...just doesn't get there fast. And a slight little hill will knock it down to 50. But for me on this bike, that's fine.

Brakes are fine, handling is nice, engine/shifting is very smooth. Downshifting not a problem for me as I'm used to the centrifugal clutch and rocker shifter.

I've added the EOM rear rack (had to wait 6 weeks as that was on backorder). Put a plastic milk crate on that just for fun, but likely will remove it as it detracts from the nice look of the bike. (I've owned several old CT90/110 Trail bikes since childhood and had milk crates on all those)

Just received the OEM kickstand and plan to install that soon. I missed having a true kickstand. Feels weird to have to swing off the bike and keep it balanced before rocking back on the center stand. Was not easy to find one for US model. They're not generally available, and I got impatient and ordered it from Taiwan.

Considering adding a windshield but not sure I'll go there. Would be more for looks than true protection, as wouldn't do a large one. Also considering adding some lower LED lights to the forks (maybe the reflector mounts) for visibility since it's such a tiny little thing. Also may add some mirror extensions so I don't need to shift body to get full view behind me.

It draws attention when stopping, so be prepared to take extra time when you get chatted up at gas stations and parking lots.

Hopefully this thing sells well and they bring back the CT110.

After making this thread a while ago I got one! 2020 Honda Super Cub. I got it from some dude in Aptos for $2800. It had 1399 miles on it so still pretty new but it's already got some rust on it on some of the chrome parts, I guess being near the ocean does that. I'm the third owner, the first owner was from Santa Cruz and bought at Fremont Honda Kawasaki, and they paid like $5k out the door for it! So I think I got a good deal for it, I even got a Quin bluetooth helmet with it! Also it has the Honda rear rack on it already, pretty nice unit, very stout because I think you can put a cushion on it and have a rear passenger seat.

So story is I recently lost my Victory Empulse TT electric bike. I'll probably make another thread about it but the battery went bad on it and Polaris couldn't fix it because there's no batteries to replace it with so they bought it back from me. :( I was using the Empulse for Doordash which is how I've been making money since the pandemic started and track days and stuff. I miss it but in the future another electric bike will grace my garage. So I've been using the Light Bee for Doordash and I keep breaking it because I use it for like EVERYTHING doordash, drag racing, supermoto racing, dirt biking, it's constantly breaking and I get flats on it all the time riding in the bike lane. So supposedly in Asia they use these a lot for delivery work so that's my plan is to use this as a Doordash bike and split the work with the Light Bee.

I bought it with the intention of selling it in the future, but who knows might keep it if I like it. But this is a very interesting motorcycle. I know it's classified as a motorcycle but it feels like your riding a scooter. So this is my very first Honda vehicle I have owned. Not gonna lie I'm not the biggest honda fan I think they are overraated especially their automobiles, they seem like trouble but people keep buying them.

So this is a bike for me that has a lot of firsts. Even though the bike it was originally based off of was produced in the 60's the C125 is a very modern bike. It has fuel injection for one things, it's my second bike to have FI and the other is my 750 Turbo. It has a keyless ignition system, like the smart key on a Prius. All you have to do is get close it to it, push the ignition button in and turn it on. It has a freakin alarm! It also has a location function if you don't remember where it was parked! It's my first bike that has an centrifugal clutch, so it's like a semi-automatic/manual 4 speed. One thing I hate about delivering on a normal bike is riding stop light to stop light and having to work the clutch all the time. This bike don't need to worry about that, it's very easy to operate one handed. Sometimes I carry stuff while riding and it's totally doable with this bike. It also has LED lighting stock!

I have to say the build quality impressed me a lot, especially the paint quality is great. I'm not going to lie though I wanted the blue one the 2019 Cub but they only sold that for one year for Honda's 60th anniversary. But the Doordsah logo is red so I'm going to slap some Doordash sticker on it. Sooo it get's 100mpg really good MPG, but it only has a 1gallon tank under the seat, plus it has a button under the seat to electronically unlock the seat how trick is that! So my plan is refuel it at home with a fuel jug. Then when I get gas for my car I'll just fill up the jug. I'm going to try and not do too many mods to this bike. Basically I just need to get it ready for work! I need a phone mount and a usb charger at the bare minimum. But yeah no clutch, 100 MPG, keyless ignition this is the perfect Doordash bike! I also was able to hit 63mph on it so it is freeway capable for short freeway rides. I wouldn't go more than like 3 exits. It is a slug though, even my Light Bee feels faster than this but it maintains it's speed better than the Light Bee because of the flywheel effect I guess and it's like twice the weight. I find myself flogging it all the time. I think I might get a quick turn throttle for it. Learning how to downshift in it was challenging also since there's no clutch. You have to blip the throttle before going down a gear like a double clutch but with no clutch.

Also I bought this tenugui in at Honda's Tokyo headquarters. They had a little show room there and I thought this tenugui looked cool of the Super Cub. I was thinking of selling it but now I own a Super Cub!

Sooo after buying it I had a little buyers remorse. I found out the shifter was messed up. I guess someone had tightened it too much and the bolt head BROKE off. So the shifter was all loose and I wanted to adjust it more like a normal shifter. What a pain in the ass I drilled through the old bolt and put a normal bolt and nut through it. I almost just cut the whole thing off but then I found out this shifter is like $145 from Honda! So if I can find a used one on ebay in the future I will snatch it up. After I fixed the shifter it was nice and crisp shifting. I have to say the heel shifter is a little odd. I don't like it's design it's hard to shift normally and it's hard to use the heal shifter. The heal shifter kinda rubs my boot if I have it adjust high like it was before also.

Congrats! Heel shifting my '82 is near impossible (unless your wearing high heels). I have always just dabbed it with my toe. :)

Yeah that's exactly what I do. :) Maybe that's what they were going for with the ladies!

Oh yeah I almost forgot the new Super Cub anime is finally airing! I'm not gonna lie it's a little boring but you'll see all sorts of Honda vehicles in it, it's like one whole Honda commercial!

you can watch the first episode on funimation, they're on the 2nd episode right now.

Oh yeah I want to point out I made like $100 for the 2 times I went out doordashing with this bike and it only cost $2 to fill up!

Congratulations, very nice, and who doesn't like 116 mpg on a bike that will likely never break?

As to Honda, my first bike in the early 70s was a Honda CB50 in Belgium and didn't have another Honda till I won a 1992(?) Honda Nighthawk 750 at a Ride For Kids fundraiser and then my wife owned an Acura RSX S and up until 2019 a TSX six speed manual.

Each and every one was bullet proof, well screwed together and enjoyable.

Sounds good I haven't had many positive experiences with Honda vehicles my dad owns a CR-Z and my sister owns a hybrid Civic and Honda can't make a decent hybrid car. I have seen valves go bad on old Hondas also.

But yeah that one of the reasons I bought the Cub was to see what the Hondas are like to own. Can't be that bad since it is the most produced vehicle of all time. But I am very impressed with the features and build quality of the C125 Super Cub.

Congratulations

I’ve had four Acura’s and an Accord. No issue with any except the current RDX had the ignition start button go weird and replaced under warranty.
Had a few small cc Honda motorcycles back in the day and no issues other than breaking from neglect and abuse.
I like some of their modern day bikes but there’s other bikes I like a lot more so don’t see a Honda in my future.

And a new chapter opens up in the HadesOmega Moto Youtube Channel

That's cool! I saw the listing for that exact one, I came real close to buying it. It's nice reading your views on it, I waffle between a Super Cub, and a Trail 125. Of course, the Trail is unobtainium right now. :(
