7 Reasons Shoppers hate Costco

Just got back from Winco. Costco prices without a membership and the portions are normal. You city folks aint got nun tho!

:p

Slow your roll, hillbillie. There's two within fifteen miles of me. :twofinger
Two Costcos, too.

I heard we have one in Pittsburg, where the employees got shot the other night. But no, never been to a Winco.

Um, he was stabbed, ok? Quit trying to make P'burg sound so bad. :x :laughing

I now understand why people are mobbed around the entrance when it's open...so they don't need to shop with others. I LOVE costco when it's not busy. I like to take my time and not feel rushed. There was one sharing the parking lot with my last job, I'd go get a single bottle of wine or one gigantic piece of meat and walk back.

We stopped going to the WinCo in roseville once we got a Costco membership to the one that was down street

Costco is making me an alkoholic!

They have the best prices on booze. I discovered OBAN Scotch a while back. I try to avoid Costco lately. They have too many bad things - great meats, great booze,, and king sized packages of TP!!

How much is oban there?

I'm a Costco fan, although I just go with a friend to use her membership.

The lines, yeah they suck, so time your trips well. Prices can be good, and I like the free samples (I don't cut or eat like 10x).

Also, the pizza and hot dogs, GREAT deals that haven't increased in prices in literally 10 years. I just ordered a combo pizza over the weekend, $10, same as always, and quite good.

Do have a Winco in the area I just moved to, will have to check it out.

If Costco makes you an alcoholic avoid Sam's club. You know you want one.

Edit: looks like Costco carries the Barrel but charges to much.

Late night Costco runs are the bessst

What do you consider "late"? They're only open until 8PM on weeknights. :laughing

As for ignorant idiots blocking the aisles, I used to just move their carts around. I don't do that anymore.

I still do...usually with my cart and by banging it into theirs so they get the point.

Jason is gonna be pissed.

I am? About what? :dunno

People spend 20min in line at the gas pump to save a $1.50 on a fill up.

I dunno about you, but even with my little car the savings are higher than that.

costco gas stations open at 6am, they're pretty empty before the store opens

Exactly! :thumbup

I hate when people leave their carts right in the middle of an isle while they walk down and pick up items they want from the other end. When I see this, I center my cart with theirs and push it to another isle. Shopping cart hide n seek.

:thumbup

Can't wait to be an old man at Costco. I'm smashing into everyone's cart whilst I fart.

Shit, I already do that. Just ask Kelly. :later

:laughing

I've seen both of those pictures already online and there's a big gap between the years they were taken. That likely explains the cost difference. Also, buying a barrel straight from the factory generally will run you about $10,000 not including transportation costs and taxes and regulatory fees. However, at least with buying it straight from the distillery, they'll host you there and you and the master distiller and master taster get to sample different barrels that you can personally choose from. It's a much better experience for that kind of money. :2cents

I think it's usually around $48 when it's on sale.

We buy most of our hard booze at Costco...it's far cheaper than BevMo, even when they're having sales. No one around here but Costco sells The Balvenie for under $50 a bottle. Shit, BevMo charges $80 for the same bottle.

I'm pretty sure Trader Joe's also sells Balvenie for around $40 or less. Trader Joe's and Costco are my two preferred spots for liquor purchases. I'll go to Bevmo if there is something specific I'm looking for that neither Costco or TJ carries.

FWIW, I just picked up a bottle of Monkey Shoulder from TJ's for around $29, which is a blended scotch. Pretty damn good for the price. Can't be drinking the top shelf stuff EVERY night. :teeth

Nope. Both are pictures at a Sam's Club. That is not a Costco sign in the second one.

Here is one at Costco

I should've specified that I was referring to The Balvenie Caribbean Cask.

I've recently discovered a couple of places that are trying hard to take my money: K&L Wine Merchants in Redwood City has a large selection of Scotches (and pretty much everything else) that are reasonably priced - they've even got bottles with MY name on them! They will ship to California addresses for about $10 shipping charge. Then there's Caskers - I haven't bought anything from them yet, but they look pretty good also...
