I still think it's a dupe.

:shrug does it matter?
We have seen this particular trajectory multiple times, and it usually ends the same way whether it's a new character or re-incarnation of a previous one.

I don't care either way. They may not be here for meaningful discourse, but at least they might be here for comedic value.

I would have loved a course like that. Thanks for this T!

It was a phenomenal course that was one of the inflection points in my understanding of the world. The literature was, unfortunately mostly white men complaining about their problems (Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, Grapes of Wrath) but I also remember reading about personal accounts from the victims of Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.

I suppose not, ends in a ban either way. If true, it's really sad and pathetic.

Couldn't agree more with this Parent & Child.

CRT is Toxic. Meritocracy & Equality > Equity & Victimhood

So it makes for cute and shareable media that young black kids believe that they will be respected on their own merits, but that's a goddamn lie.

A young friend of mine, who is black but raised by a white family, is suddenly realizing that as she becomes an adult, the world treats her very differently than her white peers and friends. And she doesn't really understand why because her family never gave her the tools to understand why this is happens, because they never experienced it themselves.

NSR500, are you willing to articulate, in your own words why you think CRT is toxic?

You would have loved a course on Howard Zinn? You seemed like a normal decent guy, one of the very few around here. Gave me some hope being that you are also a moderator. It is slipping away.

I actually would have. I mean, as much info as we can get is best. Plus, Zinn was an early civil rights guy...50's through early 60's and that was a very conservative position back then. I'm saying different experiences than we'd normally seek out and/ or are comfortable with are what expands and can redirect our thinking and perceptions. The key is; we, personally, get to decide what to do with information...but, we can never have too much and certainly never have too much diversity in the knowledge given to us. Right?

We've got to listen then reject, if that's what's going to happen. YMMV.

Brilliantly stated.

To help, if you are here to defend your socio-political perspective, if you are here to fight for your beliefs, if you are here to argue with and correct people who are thinking the wrong way, if you are here to change anyone's mind, you are not in the right place.

Do you prefer the bearded lady or the tricycle riding bear?

The raccoon on a bike was always my personal favorite.

Creepy raccoon can't even balance. Weak. :ride

Here's one to defy the stereotypes-

Yesterday I went for a hike with my two awesome Neighbors, who happen to be Lesbian and Asian, and we walked our Pit Bulls together and EVERYONE got along peacefully!!!!!

Damn that's a cute little girl.

So only people of color have the market on slur words? Nothing you say that is derogatory to any other race has the same connotations? Funny I don't use slurs to people of any race. I didn't realize there were levels of slurs and that is okay to use it to some people but not others please enlighten me as to what slur words are okay to be used for each race so that I can modify my language skills accordingly.....

Bruh, just stop. Slurs are universal.

Ain't no word like nigger. Period.

Haven’t heard chink in so long I’d almost forgotten about it. I know lots of Asians, I wouldn’t use that word around them not even joking. The person being offended kinda gets to decide what’s offensive.

I never implied that slurs aren't offensive. :thumbup

I referenced society's aversion to a very specific word vs any and all racial slurs.

The term 'wetback' offends people. To pretend it holds the same connotations as the 'N' word would be ludicrous.

Again: slurs are offensive. No one is arguing that.
