An argument could be made that the "problems" in those works are universal. On that point the color of the author's skin wouldn't matter would it? I am no literary historian, I've read all three of those, and it makes me wonder if similar universal "problems" have been raised by non-white authors in other works? Sounds like the perfect subject for a literary doctoral thesis, and if a knuckle-dragging, unwashed heathen like myself has thought of it I'm sure those in the lofty, ivory towers have as well.
