Judging by the samples posted in this thread it doesn’t appear to be a pleasant experience for some.

And the police need help identifying the suspects:

Its just another place where people come together. But adding mobility through a city at a fairly low cost and without the barrier of vehicle ownership? It's tremendous.

It's actually really amazing when done well.

Which is something that the Bay Area hasn't accomplished.

They are not down for electrified cages to keep the free range hobo circus off the transit lines.

:laughing

I got this great idea, I know: Let's get electric scooters an hook em up by smartphone and.......

I referenced society's aversion to a very specific word vs any and all racial slurs.

The term 'wetback' offends people. To pretend it holds the same connotations as the 'N' word would be ludicrous.

Again: slurs are offensive. No one is arguing that.
:thumbup

How do you define society? The last time I saw a comedy show, N this and N that came out like very 10 seconds, and it was funny as hell to everyone there, and I'm sure you can imagine whos were there...

No word like that, I agree.

I put the olive branch out there and legit don't even care anymore.

There's no conversation to be had, clearly.

:(

The choice of words was not the best, but perhaps it's best to move past it.

I'm all for people being respectful to each other in day to day life of course, but comedy, especially live comedy, should be open season. Be as vulgar and offensive as you want... if it's funny. Last time I went to a live comedy show, I was by myself and sat in the front row. I got fuckin roasted by the comic but I knew that was a possibility going in.

Depends. That Michael Richards situation was a damn mess.

His was an angry outburst and racist rant. It wasn't a bit, or a part of his act. That's the big difference.

Plus, he's white.

We probably don't need video after video showing the same groups doing bad things to another group. If nothing else, it makes for boring content.

It's kind of funny you say that. I've had the same thought the few times I've tuned in to the news over the past year...

I guess nobody is comfortable having their personal narrative questioned. :gsxrgrl

Oh dear, I mean, I mainly don't do anything in American News that isn't local news anymore other than a quick glance to see what the propaganda machines are cranking out these days.

Yucky.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id...led-not-right-minority-nfl-coaching-interview

Former NFL offensive lineman and assistant coach Eugene Chung, who is Korean, says he was told he was "not the right minority" while interviewing for an NFL coaching job this offseason.

"It was said to me, 'Well, you're really not a minority,'" Chung said during a webinar Thursday, according to The Boston Globe, adding, "I was like, 'Wait a minute. The last time I checked, when I looked in the mirror and brushed my teeth, I was a minority.'"

If racism exists for Asians it is exemplified in moments like Eugene Chung applying for a coaching job or as other Asians experience applying to Ivy League schools.
The criteria to get in is elevated and/or you get treated like a non-minority due to Asian's "Proximity to Whiteness".

Wow. That is an interesting story.

He respectfully said his piece to the NFL without outing anyone. Probably a good call for his future job opportunities. In ways that sucks.

For the record there are only 2 African American coaches in the NFL... so which s it, is he not dark enough, or light enough?

But Saleh is Lebanese! (Shout out for Pride Month! :teeth)

Are you high??

There are a lot of black coaches in the NFL.

Not enough head coaches but hopefully there will be a better balance in the future and we will see an Asian American or Lebanese American or other “other American” head coach at some point too.

Yeah but he wasn't being funny. at all. And that's not just because I have thin skin, I think you know me well enough to know I don't.

This is nothing new to stand up comedy. If you're gonna offensive, at least be funny and deliver it well. What is "funny" is subjective, of course.

Not high, but I meant to specify HEAD coaches, but didn't. My bad. Tomlin and Flores.

The Saleh line was a joke, hence the :teeth

But Saleh and Rivera are the only other minority coaches. NFL owners have some work to do, but they're billionaires.

3 GM's are black 1/3 of assistant coaches and 70% of players, black. I'd prefer more black GM's than coaches...but either is good.

Probably has to do with some pedigree bullshit requirements from billionaire owners...

Thanks for the larger breakdown.

Many of the owners are not fine upstanding people, their only requirement is having sufficient money to buy a team.

The Yorks got control by stabbing Eddy D in the back. Davis is a self-serving SOB who has shit on Raider fans repeatedly. Snyder is not an admirable person. The list goes on.

Al Davis was a self-serving SOB who has shit on Raider fans repeatedly and his son is simply carrying on the tradition the Raiders have always represented.

FTFY.

I mean, for the NFL, I think the Rooney Rule has pretty much created the meritocracy they deserve.

Tony Dungy and Mike Tomlin have pretty much put most of the BS to rest. With multiple Black HC's winning Superbowls at this point, the old racist Boomer Owner types pretty much have to sit back and let the GM's make the decisions that let their team win, because that is how a franchise makes money.

I am curious about what went down for Gene Chung though. Quite frankly, being a HC seems like a leap for him, he has mainly only coached for the position he used to play and he never even has held an Offensive Coordinator Position.
