Buy Gpro now!

i'm actually considering it too :laughing
so why's the stock taking such a beating for those that follow this trash?

it's all over the map because they have failed to deliver on the "media company" hype, so far. They also missed on earnings, didn't warn, guided lower than market expected and delivered a product that didn't perform as they had expected. It's a learning lesson when you release a new product and it can't even compete with your top 2 selling products, this is both good and bad.

if they don't deliver on the media piece, they are just a hardware company without a moat... and those end up as low margin companies in the long run. So short term investors have exited.

Thanks Yakoo. There was a short gain and profit was for the taking if acted upon.

Hell I'm making good money on the Netflix swing but Im sure some folks will look at that as piss poor as well because it's not a 100% turn around and just minor 5 - 7% here and there.

Except what Yakoo said wasn't true. There was never 100% upside from your time you called buy, there was 10% max and only if you played it perfectly. The losses if you held were massive.

If you are calling a short term trade on a highly volatile stock, you need to call your exit point. For most people, investing in GPRO when you called it would've been a disaster.

I didn't look at dates but looking back now...

Oct 15 the price was @ $75.

There was next to no upside :wow

5K assumes you left it in till the top

What if they sold early, after it only doubled?

Or, what if they leave it in even after it hits 5K, and then it crashes?

No offense, but all these threads about individual stocks seem so random and amateur, because unless you guys are insiders in the industry, you are just using the same publically-available information that the big-time traders have already traded on. For example you might spend a lot of time researching a stock, but everyone else who trades that stock has read the same info. So all those future projections and hopes or fears are already built into the price of the stock.

100% correct. you can pick your friends, your nose. and your butt, but you can't pick a bottom. Thinking you can is like thinking you can kick that HAs' ass that just urinated on your back tire.

A website where people will want to upload their gopro clips. Which gopro can somehow monetize, by selling ads? I seem to remember that being the dream but I was never a believer and never followed the company or the execution of its plan.

i didn't even know gopro HAD a media piece or that one was hyped, wtf are they trying to develop?

That's their new frontier. Trying to compete with YouTube. Like Apple has iTunes. iTunes is a huge driver to the "I" platform value.

If YouTube just keeps selling little video cameras everyone will catch up. It is nothing special. They know they can ride name brand and some functionality for a while but the Chinese and knock offs will catch up. The media hub could be the sticky factor.

I personally would short it hard. I think GoPro was a great idea but will be misty gone in 10-20 years.

Plus they expanded so fast, they didn't know how to grow with it from a process and corporate best practices perspective. Thy have a long road ahead. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.

No, not really

think editing software combined with a hulu platform only more complex with a VR piece.

Just took a gamble and bought NBG minutes before the close. Putting it out there for ridicule before it's move so all y'all can laugh if it doesn't work out.
Been watching this one for a while and might be on the road to some sort of a recovery after this weekends news.

hope you got out of this one early? :wow

I knew it was a gamble and was feeling uncomfortable with it the very next day, sold a day after that. I didn't even want to screw with a limit so placed a market order to sell and ensure it was gone. Lost almost $2000 on that bitch, sucks balls.
That was a really stupid pick since I never heard anyone recommending it. There a few money managers I pay attention to but this one was totally on me.

I followed a coworker into it and didn't do my due diligence - whoops, won't be telling the wife about it :laughing
