still has to meet CA smog to be registered here... a fact not likely to change but i'd love to hear if it has and i'm unaware. for cars that were never imported to the US in any form it's particurlarly hard. even the deep pocketed porsche people finally had to just suck it up and get the porsche 959 CARB certified and that's somewhat... questionable. money would be better spent buying property in a state that doesn't care to register it there then drive it here!
