P1800 representing!

Thanks for the pics John. I would get seriously dehydrated from drooling on everything. Especially that Lancia Delta and the Singer 911s and, and, and...

500 Testa Rosa , love the lines .

One can HOPE this would become a production car instead of just a "one off".

Cadillac Cien

in the next 2 years a mid/rear engine vette should be out so its not too much of a stretch that caddy would release their version of it.

Cadillac Cien

I think the ship has sailed on that one. The Cien was a concept back in the early 2000's. Some of the styling cues did in fact make it into production models. That whole rear end is pretty much the Cadillac XLR, or the "Corvettilac" as many referred to it as.

Wasn't this said in the 80's?

The first Corvette chief engineer, Zora Arkus Duntov wanted to make the car mid engine way back in the 60's. But there are traditionalists in the management at GM that wanted to maintain the car's FR layout. It's because of traditionalists, that even to this day, over six decades later, the small block V8 still has 4.4" bore spacing.

The engineers finally convinced the brass that they hVe reached the limits of the FR layout and if they truly want to stay competitive in the supercar game, they have to go MR. The latest Z06 already has just massive as can be tires on it, and can easily overwhelm the available grip. So it's time to make a MR version for sure.

^^
That was a concept car from 2002, right? Cadillac has already adopted and moved on from many of the design features, most notably the XLR, which was built at the Corvette factory in Kentucky...

Personally, I liked the XLR, they still stand out when you see them.

But, who knows, Cadillac may want to do something with the new mid-engine platform that GM is developing for the Corvette. :dunno

XLR was nice. Where it went wrong was putting the Northstar in instead of the small block that the Corvette got. Northstar wasn't as powerful and was waaaay more costly to fix, and fix you did since it had more problems. Also, we had non stop issues with water leaks and hydraulic actuator failures from the retractable hardtop. Plus the interior tried to be "premium" over the C6 Corvette, but really, it was just as cheap feeling.

The car was made to take some of the Mercedes SL market share. But really, people who wanted a SL...still just went and bought the SL no matter what. All the XLR did was take a handful of Corvette convertible sales away.

You really think that's why the bore space is still 4.4?
