Destination Ride Restaurants - Feeling it? What are your fav's?

New burger joint! Noice!!

Look forward to that.

I'm a little surprised Jocko's (Nipomo) hasn't made the list yet.

Other thought is Sea Pal Cove (Fort Bragg), though I wasn't able to find a proper website for it.

Also noted a few in the original list that show as closed; Mother's Kitchen (Palomar) and Tomales Bakery (Tomales) show temporarily closed on google, while a bunch of others show permanently closed. I still added all of them to the list.

Perm Closed:
  • Coyoteville Cafe (Downieville)
  • Cecil's (Garberville) - reported by business
  • Cucina Italiana (Napa)
  • Pozo Saloon (Santa Margarita)
  • Roundup Grill (Santa Ysabel) - resort's facebook page has nothing since 2020 either
  • Brick Oven Pizza (Crested Butte, CO)
  • The Branding Iron (Nederland, CO)

2nd edit: i didn't add the permanently closed ones to this version, but if i see confirmation that google was wrong, i'll go ahead and add them. that said, here it is in map format:

Covid impact

Budman, all ya’ll , May I request the sticky upfront get an update? And focus on CA restaurants vs road trip destination restaurants? (Commander’s Palace in New Orleans anyone?) it’s hard for me to recommend without some range definition.

Covid whacked the restaurant industry upside the head. Lots of places didn’t survive or have been drastically changed. If you imagine BARF’s geographic center as SFO I would recommend as follows, for food and experience, and not necessarily for large groups of motorcyclists: (mileage is estimated)

0-20 miles: in SF proper- anywhere in the mission dist named in Spanish, B Pastissire for breakfast, Balboa Cafe for lunch

21-50: Miramar in Half Moon Bay, Original Joe’s in San Jose, Scoma’s in Sausalito

50-100: Manuel’s in Aptos, Alice’s, Cascade @ Rossi’s Dr , St. John’s in Sunnyvale, Chef Chu’s in Los Altos

100-200: Mtn View BbQ in Walker, Parkfield Cafe, Rico’s Tacos in Coalinga, Nick’s Cove in Marshall.

Ok, I’m done :cool

Bristols in Arnold, CA hwy 4......biggest breakfast around, great homemade food, did I mention Biscuits and Gravy

Added a few and also a few from my September Coastal Ride where we are planning on stopping. Still need to do a few below Fort Bragg.

Sierra Mar, at Post Ranch Inn, Big Sur.
Spendy but worth it. High end, not available to the commoners. Unless they wash up first.

Ill add one. JJs Cafe on Hwy 44 in Old Station. Close to Lassen Volcanic Park. Nice ride out there. Breakfast and lunch only. Fresh made bread and jams, indoor and outdoor seating.

Mad

Ran through the list again...CA should be up to date (minus Cascade), and I caught a couple more in Oregon & Washington to add.

Destinations Map

Found (and added Cascade)

Added both of these as well.

First, thank you deathbug74 for keeping this map up to date. One update Moore's Riverboat has burned down, not sure it will reopen. One add The Resturant at Convict Lake. Highend fine dining at high altitude. You can walk over from the campground. https://convictlake.com/fine-dining/

Glad to be able to make a small contribution to things.

Apologies for missing Convict Lake earlier in the thread...did a run through the thread from the start again, and added a dozen or so I missed on previous passes..half a dozen in CA, few in the ID/MT/NV/UT batch, and the couple SD spots from CDONA, though I wasn't able to locate Barley Brothers. Also added a note to Moore's of "closed due to fire" and changed the icon to grey.

Well, this is the first time I have seen this thread! And I got a lot of great new places to check out! Thanks to all.

My 2 cents, hope I didn't miss this prior, is Frank's Place in Mokelumne Hill for breakfast then hit Jesus Maria or a number of other great roads up there! Still run by his daughters. great local place!

Also, Parkfield Cafe! There are great paved roads and dirt roads into Parkfield so you have your choice!

Cowpoke Cafe Middletown; Ikeda's Auburn

Middletown
Start in Calistoga, then take Highway 29 North to Middletown (great set of twisties). In Middletown stop for breakfast/lunch at Cowpoke Cafe (21118 Calistoga Road, Middletown). Open every day from 6am to 2pm.

Auburn
From Auburn to French Meadows reservoir, you go through Foresthill and get to Mosquito Ridge Road (great set of twisties) all the way to French Meadows reservoir. On your way back to Auburn (and interstate 80) stop at Ikeda's (13500 Lincoln Way, Auburn) for lunch (they serve burgers, sandwiches, pies, and milkshakes). Ikeda's also has a little grocery store next door where you can buy whole pies and fresh produce. Open every day, usually 9am to 7pm.

Barley Bros, Brewery/pub on the island in Lake Havasu City.

barleybrothers.com

Gotcha. I saw that, but misnterpreted the post and thought it was around Hawthorne. Should have it in tonight or tomorrow.

edit: got it added.

Added Gold Beach (Oregon Coast HWY 101) Hunter Creek Bar and Grill

This place was from our coastal ride and worth adding. Good food, fun Atmosphere, 2 minutes of the HWY and the food solid. If I was a local it would be a regular stop.

I'm saving Post Ranch for when I propose 'cause that's big baller dollars... and I ain't getting married anytime soon! :laughing

When I go to Big Sur, I usually go to the Big Sur Deli, next to the Post Office, and I can take my sammich anywhere!
