Do You Mountain Bike?

Welp, no go this weekend :( Waiting on rims :(

At least those of you that are waiting on "parts" can put "parts" on your bikes :p

If I do ride as much as I want to this summer I'll be hitting some of you up for the trick setup :) Until then I'm going to try and get myself back to being able to ride from the truck to the mountain without getting out of breath LMAO.

He's still over at Mike's Bikes in Berkeley. We bumped into him, Steve Peat, Forrest, and some other Santa Cruz Syndicate riders up at JMP the week before Sea Otter when they were doing a photoshoot.

Heard about that. Forrest sells more SC bikes than the SC sales people.

What kind of bike do you have again? My only spare set of wheels has a Lefty-specific front.

Joe, how's the wing?
Wing still broke! :(
Still waiting for the ins. co. to approve the Contrast MRI.
Regardless, I don't see being on a mtn. bike for a minimum of a month.
And if it's torn badly and needing surgery, ... sky's the limit. :cry :cry

Ready for a big FU@#EN laugh?? :wtf

I can't get my Contrast MRI scheduled any sooner (no openings anywhere) than Monday June 2 and the Dr. told me I can't do shit until I have the test so he knows the extent of the damage. So here I sit with my god damn thumb up my a$$ (obviously my right F@#$EN thumb as the left doesn't work) for a total of 3 weeks since the injury last Saturday before I'll even have a diagnosis... F@#$!!!

And I pay out the A$$ for healthcare, ...Because ? ? ?

hahah I don't even know what that means!

I've got a Gary Fisher Opie. I'm not going to lie, I bought it because it was black on black :p Worked out really well for commuting to school - its a bit harsh on the mountain but I wanted to try the sport out before I went big. Looking back I should've spent a bit more and gotten discs and a better front end. My buddy bought a bike that had some cheap discs which he replaced so I got the wheels for cheap. They weren't as wide as I wanted though and I had very little confidence in them. Thats what I'm waiting on right now, getting a wider rim laced up to the disc hubs.

I'm currently running 2.24 / 2.3 tires on my All Mountain bike, and lightweight fast-rolling 2.4s on my Cross Country bike. The 2.24 / 2.3 combo is one of the most popular among Bay Area mountain bikers, and a lot of us use the same combo when we go Downhill racing (at Toro Park and Downieville). All on the stock width rims.

I found that wide (heavy) rims are not the best for riding up, or pedaling your ass off down. 90% of the time I'm on Mavic 819s or Spinergys, the wider WTB DH set I'll use at N*

Hrm, I'll have to check out what tires I was running on the rims. I think they were 2.1s or something tiny. My bike came with 2.4s front and rear so I asked for those on my new wheels.

If you're just getting into biking and are looking for a tire that will give you very little rolling resistance, are very light, but still have decent side bite I'd consider the Panaracer firexcpro 2.1's. I've been running them for a few weeks and while they arn't the best downhill tire they seem to do everything quite well

I finally got my first bike. Its a Marin Bobcat Trail. Rock Shox fork, disk brakes. Ive taken it out twice and I am happy with it. I plan on going full suspension down the road. For now this one works great. I got a pretty good deal on it too. I'm going to start going more often down here to Annadel if anybody goes often let me know. Although I would prefer to go with beginners since I still get out of breath easy
