Do You Mountain Bike?

4th by 00:00:04 is hardly losing.

Whut is this weekend gonna bring kids?
Scott has me scurred of the DVille XC portion.

lets ride bikes this weekend. how about that!

the xc won't be THAT bad sonny. You will be on a much lighter bike than me, with much more forgiving gearing than i have. My only goal is to finish without stopping, to get to the fun dh the next day. im not trying to place on the xc. all about survival.

a 29 mile XC course is a loooooong one...especially at elevation.

I thought about doing it....but nah, I think I'll get enough of a beating on the DH for 17miles.

Friday night we shall carbo load for the xc sonny. we can each down a 30 pack

I can order these Shimano AM50s online, but wanna try them on for size first. Does anyone know where I can fit them locally (bay area). Your LBS carry them? I'd like these as my next pair...

I think that type of carbo loading will lead to dehydration :)

Good idea on just finishing, so where to ride this weekend? I'm mad at the lil bike for spitting me off in the same corner Joe lost his shoulder (must be a gypsy curse), so I'm on the big bike this weekend.

Hey Rick, just go to the shimano website and look for dealers and then call around. That's they only way I think you'll be able to find any :thumbup

so, sense none of ya are going to downieville, and i cannot procure a ride to ashland, anyone want to ride santa cruzzzzzzz

Ooof, I realized I have a problem today. When I watch people crash I find it amusing. I know its fucked up but I watched a buddy slide down a short hill and then roll into a ravine today and the entire scene was just so out of place it made me laugh. I have noticed though that its not very nice to laugh at people after they crash so I kept it to myself, but something about watching people crash, well at least when its really slow just amuses me. Its like its so wrong my sick sense of humor finds something funny in it. Honestly though, I'm still not sure if I'd be angry about somebody laughing at me. I guess it would depend on if I was hurt badly or not, I'd like to believe I could laugh at myself? Anyway sorry to the guys I giggled at previously and sorry in advance for anyone else who crashes and I can't help myself. Feel free to get your jollies when I crash....I deserve it :teeth

Red Flag Weather

Heard that JMP is closed to the public...

Are all parks closed?

:confused

FYI: A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW...OR WILL OCCUR SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS...LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY...AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.

EDIT:

as of 10AM today....

The East Bay Regional Park district says there no park closures due to fire. Of course they say no "open fires, fireworks or BBQ's" but the parks are open.

Andrew! Fun ride Saturday - (I should really eat a big burger the night prior!)... Thanks for the awesome pics.

I called all the LBS in the area (based on Shimano's site) and NO one even carries Shimano shoes on a regular basis - they would have to order them. Heck, I could do that! So the seach will go on. I like the Shimanos because I use to wear 3/4 top Shimanos years ago... and I loved them. Specialized has a version, but I actually like the aesthetics of the AM50 more.

ANYhooo... my left arm is mobile now - nothing that a bunch of ice, tylenol, and electric shock can't handle.

No mtb this weekend for me. Heading out on the motorcycle on Sunday...

auburn. is mike going? he mentioned it. what are the trails like? pictures?

I've got to iron out a few things before I know if we're going yet. There's a 30 mile loop I really dig, but that's gonna be painful for anyone who isn't 100% in the heat we're supposed to have. I should know by later today though.

In the meantime, here are some pics:

Don't forget the heat. It was in the high 90s last year.

I thought about doing it....but nah, I think I'll get enough of a beating on the DH for 17miles.

I was training for the Vineman Half Ironman last year when I went up for the DV Classic, so I figured I was in good enough shape to do both the XC and the DH.

The heat and elevation killed me. I was worthless in the last part of that ride, just coasting downhill.

Guys/gals,
There is a lot of info out there on sports nutrition. But I'd like to know from this group:

1. What is your personal pre-ride nutritional regimen before an epic ride or race?
2. What do you do to hydrate/fuel during a ride? (on the go)
3. What has worked well and not-so-well for you? (products/methods?)

This is an area I need to be better versed in. Your feedback is much appreciated.

Rick
