Do You Mountain Bike?

TWENTY SIX SECONDS OFF OF THIRD PLACE IN THE DH RACE AT DOWNIEVILLE FACK FACK FACK!!!

P7130092.jpg

Part of me is flustered for blowing my chance at a DH medal by frying my legs in the XC race beforehand (the rest of my class was DH only and had fresh legs for the race). The other part of me wouldn't have wanted to pass on the experience of the XC race for it - that was something else.

Details to come later...

Wow, congrats Mikey!!!! :applause

Well Mike, those who know will agree, the XC was more hardcore than the DH.
You kicked butt, and so did Scott. I didn't see Marco or Matt's results.

Then on burnout, you were only 00:00:26 off the podium. :thumbup I'm sure you would have won, I hope the experience from the XC was worth it.

Thanks John!

Thanks Sonny - and excellent job hanging in there! I remember how demoralizing that climb was the first time I did it, when I didn't know where it ended.

And you're right - the XC experience was totally worth it. And If I didn't do it, you guys wouldn't have had the chance to laugh at my "what the hell is that guy thinking" race start :)

damn Mike, you are savage.but the question is,how much air did y'all get off of this..........:teeth

Are you guys doing some lake jumping?

Let me know the when and where and I will dazzle you with some back flip attempts?? :laughing

I've been thinking of getting a cheap bike to do this with

There's a river jump contest every year during the Downieville Classic. Next year?

Cool thanks Mike

And North Star was great -

The right side of the hill was great, Lime Wire and BoonDocks was fantastic -

The lift for the left half of the hill was broken the 1st half of the day

They opened it up but I found riding the left side has more rock gardens and technical stuff so I found myself back on the right side for most of the day

Great weather and the lift lines were quick for the most part.

Will be heading back up this weekend so let me know if you guys are heading up

Ouch

This is what happens when you try to finish a DH race with no rear tire:

That is a bad ass photo! :laughing Balls out!

Rode GGP with Jeremy today. Man, he could barely keep up, and I had to stop and wait for him a few times. He fell right away too, in some tree roots. fucking newb. :rolleyes :teeth

that Raleigh M80 did awesome. Definitely getting some proper mtn bike shoes and some eggbeaters.

Damn, I would if I wasn't going to T-hill :teeth

a week is fine. time to start timing dh runs somewhere else. im still going to go back up and time myself on the d ville dh. i cant believe i was 9 minutes slower than my fastest run

When you headin' back? With more pedaling strength I should be able to pick up some time: flat section of Butcher, climb into 3rd and rolling singletrack on 1st.

Who's doing the Sonoma XC race this weekend?

no more xc races for me. downieville is the only one worth the pedaling. unless someone donates a full bore xc bike. i can do downieville any weekend people want to go. annadel also. (NO sonny and roxy, not just to see people in sonoma... :) )

Congrats Mikey and Scott:thumbup

Was 5th in Sport Women -- one of the Expert Women sandbagged, raced in Sport instead and placed 1st...brings me down to 6th:)
