Ferguson Solution

The real solution would have been to spend some money and install good security cameras so that they could hold the people who did the vandalism and looting accountable.

Most of the damage is caused by a few people, much of the looting is done because the people breaking in and carrying off the stuff felt secure in their 'safety in numbers'. Take away the comfort in getting away with it without consequences and most of the problems go away.

I've often said what would have happened if Oscar Grant was killed not in Fruitvale, but Orinda?

Rioting always happens in either ghetto neighborhoods or downtown areas where few people live. The ghettos is usually where injustice occurs, and for various reasons, people feel less responsibility destroying businesses than other people's homes.

But if Grant was killed in Orinda, it would have been a fascinating martial law situation. There would be cops stationed on Pinehurst and Wildcat Canyon Roads. The Orinda BART Station would be either closed or the police would profile all passengers. The Hwy 24 offramp to Orinda would blockaded.

But why does East Oakland exist? People who can afford to live in Orinda, do so. Then they design a city system to keep ghetto residents trapped.

Hwy 13 makes for a very nice barrier between the good and bad parts of Oakland. 880 and the Alameda bridges/tunnels do the same as well.

So what does that mean for the average person? They rather live in Orinda than East Oakland.

But when we make an economic and social prison, then complain about when the inmates riot over the conditions, we continue to have a prison.

Or it could be a way of saying "fuck whitey." At least that's what it seemed like the time I was having coffee on the sidewalk an some dude with them about to his knees walked by and asked me what I "was lookin at, White motherfucker, i kick your ass." I swear I hadnt said a thing and had only given him a passing glance. This is when ccw holders need to exercise restraint. :cool

The same concept applies in the street as at a job interview. People will judge you based on how you dress, act, and speak. It is human nature, and we all do it, black people too.

right and on tuesday a guy who randomly tried to pick a fight with me called me a fucking nazi whiteboy. it was odd, cause id never heard an indian say that (india indian) but I hardly think its ndicitive of anyone other than him.
