Well, ideally you have something like 20% lower class, 75% middle class, and 5% ultra upper class (that doesn't comprise more than everything below it).
But, our society, where the top 2% owns 95% (or something) of the wealth in the United States. So even though our middle class is the best in the world, our lower class is getting bigger and that middle class is shrinking, because the top 2% doesn't know when enough is enough. For over a century, the ultra rich had a strong sense of what they could get away with to keep the peasants happy and producing for them. Lately, they seem to be losing sight of that balance and soon it will likely topple (IMO).
There is no way several HUNDREDS of people are billionaires, yet millions live with $20,000 or less annual income. It's a recipe for disaster.
