How the hell can that be unbiased?
Here is where I am biased. I want to protect 700P class by not allowing somebody to show up with new R6.
If cripple guys have problem with that they can make 700P bikes legal for their class (as I suggested).

The "expert" has far more experience and IMO a more unbiased view of racing and racing with the AFM than you do at this point. You're putting words in his mouth, you don't know that those same people wouldn't be racing a cripple and neither do I. I don't like twins so I wouldn't race one, others do like them. That being said they're a good option for lots of racers. And if I was going to cripple a 600 it would be a later model R6, build the hell out of it and run expensive race gas. :) Because if I were racing full-time again I'd want to win the class again, not just finish. :teeth

I think your point of view is biased :rofl no really Zorn has a very singular view and can not be reasoned with. leading off with a statement like "the way of the cheap triple has flown" to me states that a cheap 450 can no longer be done for some unknown reason.

Can I just say that my triple cost me $1000, bike, tires and crippling pieces. 1994 Honda CBR450 F2. How is that for cheap ?

The "expert" has far more to lose as the triples catch. How the hell can that be unbiased?

The triples are putting money into the club, bringing in new racers, increasing the grids. The "expert" is spouting bullshit and being detrimental to the club. Sounds more like a leech than someone whose "experience" we should be listening to.

The "expert" has the wisdom from being a part of racing long enough that you cannot fathom. The way i see it is you are spouting bullshit regarding the "expert".

There is ZERO motor work on my R6 to convert it into a 450. It is simply a detuned 600 with the fuel turned off for one cylinder. It is a production bike in every definition of the word. [B said:

Really? Been around long? Can you say 2012,2013 and 2014 650 Production Class champion. You probably never saw it because it was kicking your ass:thumbup Purchased for $950, how's that for cheap?

Yes I have a FZ07R and it's a production based bike so cost is just a touch under 15K :twofinger

That is cheap, and where did you finish on that "gem"? As said before, the cost you spent has no correlation to the cost someone else spent on their bike.

If I can show up after not being on track for two years and podium on my Kawi 400, how do you think I might do on a built R6 cripple? For some it is as much about winning as just racing.

Some have plenty of money to purchase whatever they want and others don't. Fact is a 2016 R6 crippled and built to make as much Hp as possible with ohlins forks and lightweight wheels is legal for 450 SB. Any idea on what that would cost? Buying it from Graves would be about 32K, 40K if you went with a magnetti marelli system. Of course you'd still have to be able to ride it pretty well to get on the podium. :teeth

Haven't raced it yet. Coming back after 9 years off so I am hitting some track days first.

You are forgetting 9.1.6(k) which is ignored by nearly every SV-650 and soon to be ignored by every FZ-07 :twofinger

I look forward to seeing you out there on an FZ-07 :thumbup

AAAAANNNNDDDDDDD here is where you again show your ignorance. I built a COMPLETELY STOCK SV that still holds lap records. So stock, that I left the pulse air injection on with the stock air filter. That air filter had the black widow who was living there when we pulled it from the salvage yard remained. I hope you bring your "detuned" 600 out for a round or two. Put it up against our production FZ-07. I got a crisp $100.00 bill that says you won't get a sniff of my bike. Riders last name is CATCHING, something you won't be doing. And before you go all grammar police on people, maybe you should understand their intent.

CHEATER BIKE!

Black widows add 25-30 horsepower, and often grant the rider super powers.

Everyone knows this.

So much love in this thread. Can't imagine why some people don't want to race with the AFM.

you're comparing riders, not bikes. 99+% of this board can't catch catching. your point is null.

also, i dont think zarra is arguing that cripples are faster.... just that they are cheap and current and a great middle ground between 300's and 600's in today's racing environment.

I have had a number of conversations with track day riders over the last couple of years where they own a 600, want to race but don't feel "competitive" in the 600 class and they don't have the finances to buy another track bike.

Don't "feel" competitive in the 600 class so lets race a cripple and try to get a "participation" trophy. Must be the "pussification" of America. Was it you that mentioned "participation" trophy?

Funny, when you use the phrase "Far more production than any SV650 I have yet to see on the Prod grid", I believe you are stating that there isn't ANY truly production legal bike in that grid. Therefore, you are implying that everyone on that grid is cheating in some fashion or another. That is my take,am I wrong?

I believe that you know how much we foster a family feeling in our pit? When you come in here spouting garbage, I will take offense.
